Did you get the alternated pulleys? Let me know how the high precision center pulley works out. Was thinking about getting one but I've seen little wrong with the one on it so I didn't bother. I need to order myself some belts. Tower just got some in stock so I better get some before they are gone.

i will probably just keep the bits, other than the belts as spares.

i will install the belts, because they look sexy

hi there,

firstly, welcome to the thread, and are you new to RC's?

i 'only' have the standard TA-05 with some hop-ups.

the IFS is supposed to be a good chassis, i have read some good reviews about it.

when you get it, make sure that you post some pics in here.

what electronics are you going to put into it?

i would recommend ordering some 64dp gearing for it, i can post links if you like.

I would also recommend getting some Amarid (may be spelt wrong) belts, as the standard ones stretch easily, and they are a pain in the ass to change, you have-to strip the whole car down

What surface are you going to run it on?

and, are you going to race it?

Other than the front shock setup they are exactly the same. Should be just as good as a normal TA-05. Its unlikely you'll see a large performance gain or decrease from the front setup, although it looks cool.

Thanks guys. This is really a bit of a shelf queen but I might get the electric bug. I have been racing a Kyosho RR evo and a modded FW05R for a couple of years and raced electric off road in the mid '80s,so I guess that I'm not really a noob.
Still debating as to what motor, but will be running a Novak Hammer speedy,HiTec HS6975 HS digital servo and Spektrum DX3 radio.
I have an Associated TC3 that I am also playing with and our local track is an asphalt netball court. Fairly high grip surface.
I will post pics of my IFS when it is completed.

Hi All, Im new to the R/C Car scene and decided after a good chat with the guy at my R?C shop to go for the TA05 IFS, Raybrig NSX GT, i've had R/C stuff before, but mainly ships and tanks and do like an authentic looking finish to my models, so building this was a first time effort for me, and I must say I totally enjoyed every minute of it, I have the box standard at the moment, as I am a Novice driver and have only been going to the local club for the past two weeks, and im wanting to learn to drive the car as best as possible before making and descisions on upgrading, although I am buying two 4600 racing batteries as the two i have only allow enough driving time to race, so i get no time during practice to get the feel of the track. I am thinking about upgrading the motor to begin with, nothing flash just something with a little more speed, (nothing too much), to help out on the long straights.
I am totally hooked now and cant wait for the next meeting to come around so I can drive my car , I'll post some picks when I get some sorted and look forward to chatting with you guys about the TA05 ifs and steps to take to get it performing even better with upgrades.

I bought an IFS over the winter and have been "upgrading" it ever since. I love the way the car handles. Compared to my TA04-S, it is in a competely different class. It turns tighter, accelerates quicker, and the ball diffs are smooth. As long as you take your time building, the car is really good. I currently run at the LHS (season opening soon!!) and can't wait to get the IFS into a main to see how well I do.

There is not going to be a significant performance difference between the IFS and regular TA-05. The IFS setup looks cool but other than minor changes to accomodate that, they are the exact same car. So its more a matter of preference. The IFS can fit the new low front end bodies or standard bodies, that is the main advantage.

Congrats on the purchase. Its nice to see some new faces in the TA05 thread. What class are you racing in? Post your results when you get racing, I'd like to see how the TA05 holds up against the competition. My race season will start soon too so I'll post my results as well. I primarily race against xrays, TC5's and one or two TC4s. There may be a couple others but mine is the only Tamiya.

all this talk of IFS's makes my '05 seem old and inferior

mine handles nicely on polished wood though
