that is one mistake most people make (no offense) is running a motor too fast for their skills. I have an off road buggy. there is forum on this website that I am currently subscribed to. most of them go blow about $200 on mamba max systems. they always talk about how they stripped gears and crashed and spent major $$$ on repairs. don''t exceed your skills!

(sorry for going off subject)

I totally agree with you BigT!! I feel now that I can handle a stock 27t motor, so I''m now moving up to a sport tuned motor. One day I may buy a super-fast motor, but not until I feel I can handle the power.

Hi all. I have just ordered a TA05 and I hope that it will be here next week, have to wait and see. I have built up a TL01 BL and have been using that and have been really enjoying it. I went and watched racing for the first time in 25 years and it has got me motivated to join a club and go racing. The guys that we have meet at the club have been great to talk to and are most welcoming. I think that buying a TA05 will give me a better handling car than my poor old TL01 but it is great fun and I will keep it for running around the roads near home. If you have any suggestions regarding the build and set up of the car it would be most appreciated, thanks all.

No offense taken Mate. I knew after about the first 10 seconds that I''d made that mistake

When I did manage to get things fixed and drive it slower, I was really happy with how the TA05 handled... really happy. I really enjoyed building this car. It was a lot more fun to make than the TT01.

The TA05 is a great handling car. Regarding the build the main things would be, stay organized. Keep the parts bags together, one tip I heard is to transfer your metal parts bags to ziploc baggies and keep the label from the parts bag in there. The other thing is make sure you correctly tighten the ball diff. The lock nut will strip if you overtighten. Might not be a bad idea to get some extra diff bolts and nuts to begin with. The HPI RS4 uses the same diff bolt nut so there is another source for the part if needed.(tamiya parts are hard to get by me)
As for setup, the stock setup actually handles very well. I''d keep it there initially then fine tune to your driving style later. I just added foam tires to my car and away I went as far as setup.

first of all, welcome to the forum. i''m sure you''ll find lots of great information here. I have a few suggestions, make sure your belt tension is set correctly. also, check the differentials to make sure they aren''t too loose or too tight. and, what kind of battery and esc are you going to run? good luck on building your TA05. I''m sure you''ll be extremely surprised on how well these little monsters can handle.

Some updated pics of my TA05. I rebuilt the diffs last night and switched the bulkheads to the carbon reinforced pieces. You can feel that they are stiffer than the stock plastic. You'll notice them as they have a flat appearance compared to the stock plastic. The G6 Body turned out well I thought. Its a little dusty and has some cat hair on it from sitting in the basement but I thought it turned out well.

I purchased them from tower. They were finally in stock again. These are my ones from last year, I ordered some spares. They are the aramid belts. I've trimmed off a little fray but they hold up well so far. I have not had to adjust these yet.

Hi there,

Nice to see your pleasure riding TA05. Here is my TA "in action". I switched from TT-01 to this car and I didn't regret.

It was a standard TA-05 kit and now upgraded with a lot of tunings. I am racing in 23T Sport class. The original plastic CVA's were replaced with TRF dampers. Front one-way and alu rear upright (1 degree) for higher speed. The open-air season is now starting, would like to post pictures.

cheers.

[get a TA-05,

cheap, cheerful, affordable, loads of mods and parts out for it, great handling (better than TC4's aparantly)

if not, get the TA-05R - comes with the sexy blue belts as standard
