There are also some racing wheels that had an o ring for the tire. I don't know if they are made any more, but they might work.

Dave, head towards town by 5 minutes, go into Rose Street and knock on my door- I have the Rubber O Ring wheels literally pouring out of my ears- can spare you a couple of pair or two,..................pizza wheels are no good on Canterbury grass but these Orong ones are perfect- use them on all my pylon models right thru to FAI( F3d) Trevor H

Dave
Those wheels with the o rings are the wheels Dave Shadel used to sell. What is wrong with the solid plastic pizza cutter wheels, are you flying off a grass strip or a swamp.

Ys Geoff, time for a geography lesson- Canterbury is actually on riverbed and swamp- the City of Christchurch actually on peat...............and the farmers grow a tufted grass that pizza wheels just simply don't run thru. Even a mower struggles to cut the tufts- its grown because of the potential drought conditions all over the Canterbury plains. The tufted grass has long roots that are apparently able to reach 2 or so metres indepth to find the ground water/ low water table. Every site I have flown off down here has the same problem- the tufts appearing say at 600 centres eachway, based on the drill setup. Stotts farm is covered in the stuff, the CMAC site likewise and no doubt where Dave flies similarly.
Geography lesson number 2?
regards big T

Trevor
Dave tells me his field at Mcleans Island has one of the best grass strip surfaces in the area, so go figure. 21 Guys raced at Patonga on Friday, some of the heaviest peat land in New Zealand,
on a strip that is mown in cow country just for the Waharoa Rumble, maybe the Guys in the North Island just know how to fly, as all the Q500 planes had pizza cutter wheels.
