Dang, I am just finishing a GP 300S Wagstaff because the Performance Series 27% Cap was on back order too long. I am guessing the 300S is a new kit from the ground up with hinge points instead of ca hinges. Wingspan is increased 1" and the weight is down about 2 pounds.

Here's the site: Extra 330S

This thing looks awesome. I like the option of forward and aft radio trays for balancing.

The design of the high wing tube gives one the option of making a tuned pipe tunnel as well.
I love the look of extra's front cowl..... looks beuitifull...

I looked at the hardware.... It is the same nice hardware that the 150 size uses (really nice stuff)
The 2-servo pull pull harware looks nice as well... the tray is wood, not aluminum, but it is still very nice stuff....
The only thing that I compare this plane to is the new aero-works 35cc extra 300& 260 that is comming out...
500$ fo the werks....
and 400$ for the Great planes......???

Desicions desicions!!

I also, am thinking about the Beutifull QQ 73"Yak 54....///

I havae been looking at this plane and I really like it. The only thing I would like to see are some actual weights from people on here, i don't want a 50cc plane just yet, I would rather something that will 3d well with a large glow or small gas engine.

i'm just curious on what 3D preformance 35 CC engines are out there? I'm pretty interested. Thank you.

I forgot to mention, what are good 20 to 25 CC engines that you guys recommend for 3D?

Thanx.

Brillelli has a nice 36cc motor. Evolution also makes a 36cc. After looking at this plane I think it will rpobably need a 50cc to reach its full potential for 3d. It is 79" and with a gas engine will probably come out around 15lbs. A 40cc would probably be just about right, but for the money you can get a good 50cc now.

Does anyone know what kind of landing gear it has? i am assumind aluminum like the wing tube. Could be some decent weight savings witching just those two things out.

bbagle1:

From the G.P. web site: "The composite landing gear offers smooth contours that perfectly complement the modelfs scale looks — and provides the strength and reliability needed for confident touchdowns. "

The gear is one of the things I don't really like about it. It looks flimsy and flexible--not very scale looking either.

I too, am debating between the Aeroworks 300S and this one. The Aeroworks has alot of pre-fab done (ail. and elev. already hinged, control horn locations drilled), and some very nice hardware with ball links.

You can save over 120$ or perhaps more, given the shipping cost these days, if you buy the GP extra..........
You can always pick up a pair of really nice aftermarket CF landing gear and paint them read if you want to..... and still be less than the aeroworks.....

Note:
I would think that GP did enough testing to check the landing gear out and make sure it was sturdy enough for production..............
I know the GIant aeromasters cracked the coating on the top of the alluminum landing gear, but never had any issues with being too weak....
The GP Ultimate had somewhat weak landing gear as well.............

You would think that this was deducted in there desicion and had learned from prevous mistakes????? I believe even some of QQ yak's in the 50cc sise delaminated there landing gear........

GP isn't the only offender in this catagory............
Aeroworks over builds there landing gear and mounts...... But then, they are also alluminum and heavier than the fiber ones......................

My landing gear on my 1/3rd Great planes CAP 580, were very heavy, strong, unbreakable, unbendable landing gear..... But then again, they were heavy.......
It is always a give and take...... typically,,,,, If you want good stuff, the price always GOES UP!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the aeroworks planes are the highest quality I have seen and the pre-fab is nice but they tend to be heavier than similar sized planes. Also the aeroworks is a bit smaller than the GP for 100$ more. i am sure the quality will be there but I would like a plane this size for a light 50cc or a brillelli 46. 72" seems a little small for a 50cc. i am probably going to wait till this plane comes out and see what the real RTF weights are. This plane with a 50cc at 15lbs or less would be great.

Hi guys.

I did the in-house R&D work and wrote the instruction manual for this one. Yea, the gear is fiberglass. On the workbench, the gear on first prototypes seemed a little flimsy, but proved to be just fine in testing--no problems (many landings--pavement and rough grass--flying with a Fuji 43cc so it wasn't in its lightest configuration as it would be with glow). But we stiffened the gear up anyway by making it thicker.

The gear may look flimsy because of the funny sweep, but it's plenty rigid.

The video will be coming out soon--we went out with Frank Noll the other day (freezing cold!!!) and he put it through its paces. It had the Fuji in it for the video.

Tim
