A few of us SPA enthusiasts met at the WRAM show on Saturday, and we put some faces to the names we use on the forums. We had a quick and fruitful meeting and came up with a schedule for some SPA events in the Northeast.

1) Staten Island April 26, rain date April 27

1) 5/31 Saturday with a raindate of 6/1 at the CCRCC club field in Farmington, CT
NOTE: There are frequency restrictions at this field!! CH 14 & 22 are not allowed, and CH 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 could be dirty, but are useable.

2) End of July, date and location TBD

3) End of August Freehold, NJ date TBD

Please stay tuned to this thread for updates as they become available.

All are welcomed to any of these events and are encouraged to stop by and see what SPA is all about. We are really looking to get something going in the Northeast as there are lot of pattern fliers around. Hope to see all you guys at these events!!

TO THE MODERATOR - Could you please make this thread a sticky so it doesn't get lost. We would really appreciate it! Thanks!!

Yes, a good meeting. Regarding the WRAMS show, I was disappointed that there was no pattern class for the display models.

I was a good meeting. Good to meet John and the guys from Staten Island. I agree with WEDJ that there should have been a pattern class for the display. I didn't see anything at the WRAM that made me think of spending money or time. The only thing that was of interest to pattern in general was meeting people and seeing the Aquila 2M at the NSRCA booth.

Hope we have a good summer.

Peace

Mark O

I too was very disappointed with the WRAM show this year. Lack of vendors was very evident. Only highlight for me was that I got a Tru-Turn spinner for my Banshee. Only other good thing from the show is that I get to see some friends that I normally don't get to see.

Ditto on the Wram show, I was also very disappointed, manufacturers that were listed on the program did not attend, JR, Saito and there was an obvious absense of many of the vendors. I might think twice about attending next year. Now for the Staten Island event. How about April 26, rain date the 27th.

J Pal:

April 26th -27th should be good for me. I should be able to make your field in about 2.5 hours going over the Goethals Bridge. Let's hope for good weather. We did get some Klass Kote at the WRAM but show is turning from a MFR showcase into junk pedlers. We enjoy seeing the guys you don't see all winter and old friends (like Dean and Dave, Ron, Joe and always enjoy talking to Dave and Sally Brown and the Flying Models people but at $3.30 a gallon here in CT it would be better to spend the gas going to an SPA meet.

Looking forward to seeing you at the field.

Peace

Mark O

JPal: With the April date, does that toss the July event out the window?

April is OK with me also!

Just a note - I loked up the VR/CS schedule for the NorthEast:

April 19-20 Scotland, PA
Aug 30-31 Endicott, NY
Oct 11-12 Oxford PA

Banshee qualifies as Nostalgia (over 35 yrs old)
Perigee & Taurus qualify as Classic (pre-1965)

You guys in the NE.....we will be more than happy to POST the info about your' contests along with the SPA events
already sanctioned for this season if you'll advise to our CSP (Chairman of Special Projects) Mr. Jamie Strong in
Prattville, AL. His e-maill address is:
jstrong499@charter.net

feel free to post all info about your contests to the SPA Discussion List which you may join from within the SPA website at:
www.seniorpattern.com
also I'd love to have your' meets listed among the others in the SPA newsletters. Need dates, CD, location, etc.
I tried to respond to the originator of this thread with a request to PM (Private Mail, I assume)...but it wouldn't allow
me to do that, so that's the reason from replying to the entire list here. I haven't determined how to tell a person's
real name and e-mail address from this post. I've noticed the names are more like "handles" and no listing of e-mail
addresses.

Anyway that Mr. Strong or myself can assist in promoting your' coming SPA events, we'll be happy to...nothing but the
best to you in your' SPA endeavors.
Sincerely,

Bruce Underwood SPA 15 President Guntersville, AL

Sorry guys there has been a change of plans, I have to change the date to April 19th. raindate April 26, I hope this does not screw anyone up. Now a question, in order to peak interest in my club and to boost the attendence, I presented this as more of a fun fly with judges. Meaning I loosened the rules as to engine restrictions and type of airplane that can be flown. The sequences stay the same and judging will be applied. Having it done this way for our first event does not exclude anyone and may get more people interested. Knowing the guys in my club, 99% of them will fly Novice anyway. Let me know how you feel as I can still change the way the event is run.

I think that's a fine idea. The date change is a good thing for me as I had a conflict. WEDJ will also like the date change, he couldn't make the 26th. Now pray that it doesn't rain on the 19th!!!

I'm liking this! Opening up the rules will never hurt at this stage of NE SPA events. The more the merrier!
