Based upon how enormously popular Mike's question and answer sessions seem to go, several members have asked me if I would be willing to open the same kind of thread for Futaba. So, here goes....

AnnMarie:

Thanks - you are just super!!

I am eagerly awaiting my "back-ordered" 9C from my LHS. I am sure I will have a question or two when I start.

I hope this forum is as successful for you and Futaba as Mike's apparently is for Hitec.

You both are to be commended for taking the time and effort to help us.

Dan

Mrs. Cross,
I have a question regarding the 9Z. I have dual aileron servos on channel 1 and 6. I would like to set up conditions on my radio and have the dual rate settings follow from one condition to another without having to go to each condition and change them. Is there a way to do this?

Patrick.

I recently purchased a 9caf airplane version. Can the throttle slick be modified to be smooth and not have the ratchet?

Guys: Just a quick note. Ann Marie deals in many areas of her company. Sometimes it takes a bit of time for her to reply. Having dealings with her for several years She is good and very caring. Hang in there. Even I wait for answerss sometimes. Her and Mike will be great on RCU and they help everyone to the best of their ability. Bkf
Im exicted.
Even though she can't get me a trainer plug!@

Patrick

The way I do it is to set up my plane on a normal condition the way I want it with everything in place that I normally use. Then I copy that to another condition and change only what I want to change, keeping all the original mixes, DR etc etc

Patrick, Chad is correct that this is the only way to do so. Dual rates cannot follow from one condition to another other htan manually setting them to each individual condition.

The 9c can be converted to non-ratchet, simply send it to the service center for the hardware change and recalibration.

Thanks BKF! I'll try to answer as i can. Just fyi, i normally get to boards like this only on my personal time so some days you'll see me a lot in the evening and sometimes you won't see me for a few days.

guys,I dont know if the 9c has the same type of ratchet mechanism as the 8u series. If it does it is an easy fix.Just remove the back cover, and you'll see the flat metal piece that ratchets the throttl, just lift it a little, dont bend it,and slide on a piece of silicone tubing.Works like a charm on the 8u's.Mines been that way for 4 years now.

Ann Marie,

First off, thank you for offering your expertise on this column. I have not witnessed it first hand as I'm new to this hobby and forum, but there are many people here who obviously look to you with great respect.

My question is getting a trainer cord for my 9C. I understand they are on the way, so if you have an ETA, that would be great. I would need the one that goes from the square plug to the round plug (so that it fits the club's buddy boxes).

Thanks in advance.

Mike

On the trainer box -- yes, with the 8U and 9C, the trainer can be just the simple buddy box and you set controls to "FUNC" and the student now has all of your throttle curves, mixes, everything.

on the 9C trainer cord, we had stock and they all sold out immediately, so a web search may find you one. otherwise we don't expect more, unfortunately until early april.

still no word on the DSC cord, sorry!

Thank you, all, for the kind invite!!!

My initial thoughts when reading this in my 9C manual was that the buddy box would have no control over anything except the primary 4 channels through the sticks.

Well from experience using my 9C with my son's 4VF (and yes I do have one of the new trainer cords.....I must have been one of those ones that jumped in and helped sell out the first shipment! ) the trims on the buddy box still have an impact. If I am giving control to the buddy box then their trims need to be set to neutral so as not to affect the trim of the master. Also if the buddy box has the trims moved while it has control this will affect the trim of the plane.

So I have gathered that the 9C 'FUNC' feature does use the trims etc. from the master, but the buddy can still upset these trims if they move theirs around.

Sorry Maverick, yes you are correct. The student's sticks and trims are functional, but the master's PROGRAMMING is all available to the student.,

8uap question. I have dual elevators and servos on my GP Giles 202. I programmed the radio on 2 and 6 ele-flp mixer to make them both work together. They do, but the trim only controls one side ,and the other one moves at neutral position with the channel 6 knob. What is the proper way to do this and have the elevator trim work properly.
Thanks,
Dale

Please help .....I have several OS and Saito 4 strokes. I am frustrated setting up the throttle with my new 9CAF radio as I was with my 8UAF. I have a good low idle when the stick is at the bottom of the radio. I have full throttle when the stick is straight up. I'm looking for my mid range...I cannot find it. What am I doing wrong?
Thank You,
Victor

Wow, AnnMarie, your popular here. Nice to have a ladyflyer that is so very well versed among us.
I just have a quick easy question for you, about my 9C.
Is it totally compatible with my Accucycleplus? Can I charge, discharge, cycle etc... . I have not tried it with the Accucycle yet, I want to know first.
Loving that new 9C though, and almost ready for the daughter's plane as well with the 6DA, ooh she's going to be so surprised. Good flying this spring and summer!
Thank you very much for your time here.
