Is it correct that carbon fibre pushrods in a model can affect the operation of the receicer if the aerial is placed near them?
I have two .2 inch carbon fibre pushrods (length approx. 15 inches) in a fibre glass fuselage where the receiver aerial is running more or less parrallel to those. The distance between the rods and the aerial varies between 2 and 4 inches - should I be concerned?

Are there any guidelines about placing carbon fibre and receiver aerial near eachother?

regards,
Henrik.

yes, carbon absorbs and blocks RFs, the higher the frequency the more susceptible to problems. with your setup non 2.4 systems shouldn't have a problem with it though.

In my pylon planes I've had the antenna unknowingly wrapped/tangled in and around the CF pushrods and not had any issues at all.. I think as long as the antenna exits the plane you can get away with it.. And no, I didn't have any range or glitch issues..

Thanks for your replies guys!

Here in United Kingdom most of us still use 35 MHz.
With your info and a thorough range check everything should be 'GO' then!

Henrik.

Just keep in mind that carbon fiber is conductive, so it will act like a faraday shield if it is in between your antenna and your receiver.
