PlaneKrazee -> HS-45 geartrain clicking/slop? (2/26/2008 2:10:40 AM)

Just purchased 3 hs-45hb servos. I was told they are a higher precision servo than the 50, 55 and 56 and are strip resistant.

I checked them for gear mesh slop and noticed you can feel them click and see the servo horn slightly move without the gears moving. Is this normal? Is it due to the parallel geartrain?

My other karbonite servos don't have this movement.

I'm not really sure what you mean... You might want to tighten the screw on the horn.

Mike.

Hi Mike,

If you take one of these servos out of the package and move the servo horn back and forth (but not enough to rotate the gears) you can feel the servo click internally. The gears are not slipping or even moving from what I can tell. It feels similar to gear slop. When I checked my other karbonite servos (65's thru 6985's) they are silky smooth. Do you have a 45 you can check?

I just checked some new 55's and the horn moves the same on these but without the clicking. The 65's are Smoooth.

It's normal and should not affect the performance in any way.

Mike.

Thank you.
