Finished glueing and sanding the triangular pieces for the support on the dorsal fin and horizontal stabilizer. It's already to start covering.

I don't know what you have in mind for the next plane, but if you want another GREAT flying low wing, try a Super Kaos, but you will have to build from plans. It's an easier build then the one you are doing now and after you get the parts cut out, it just like building any other plane. Good luck with this one, it's looking great.

i''m not sure yet mred33 what I want to build yet. I''ll fly this for a while and get a project going for next winter. We do a lot of travelling with a fifth wheel in the summer. I glued in the servo tray. trimmed the outer rods in the plane. Soldered the clevises on the steel rods that go on the servos for the rudder and elevator. I covered the strip on the centre of wing with filler, the bottom mostly as it will be seen. Also will feather it out. Sunday i covered the fuselage. My friend showed me some tips. I''m happy the way it turned out. I only used the iron on the edges, no sock on it. Then the heat gun on the centre taking the wrinkles out that you couldn''t pull out when tacking.

Nice job on the fuse!

If you happen to get a bit of CA on the covering resulting in a smoky area on the covering (like my 4*), use a soft cloth, soft shop towel or very soft paper towel dipped in acetone and gently rub the acetone on the CA - let it chemically clean it up rather than using a pressured rub - won''t scratch that beautiful yellow covering job.

Thanks for the advice SeamusG. I want to put some black on the bottom of the wing to tell which side is up. I''m thinking of large stars. i have a template of a 7 1/2 inch star. Maybe two on each wing and maybe a stripe. I''d like to put 4 on each wing, but it''s a four star plane. I''m thinking of being able to identify it well at a distance. Or do you think that would matter? I''ll have to think about it. I think i''ll put the Sig decals on the top.

The stars (and 4 is THE number to have ) will help differentiate the bottom from the top. You might consider adding a 1" or so black stripe on the leading edge. This will help on landing approaches. Good luck with applying the trim. Just go slowly on the lowest heat with a sock. You can use a sharpie to outline where you want to apply the stars. It''s easy to clean up with alcohol.

You really need something to tell the top from the bottom. It doesn''t make to much difference what it is as long as you can see it good from the ground. I like stripes and with Yellow, I like to use Yellow and Black checker board on the bottom about the outer thrid of the wing, but that''s just me.

You should put something on though. Your stars will work good as long as they are big enough and you can see them OK and they should look good. Try tapeing you stars or whatever on your plane and then stand back and look at it to see how it will look. That way, if you want to move something or change something it is easy to do. It will also tell you if you need to do something else if you don''t like the way it looks. I normally step back about 30 or 40 ft and yes I take it out in the yard to do this. There are times that something looks good close, but I don''t like it when I get futher away.

And yes it does matter. If you can''t tell the top fom the bottom, you can get disorentated and that is about the easiest way I know to crash a plane. A friend of mine had a Super Stick 60 size and it is mostly yellow and it is a very hard plane to keep up with. I bought it because he didn''t like it and am now recovering it so I can see it while it is flying. I had a hard time telling what it was doing and I was just standing watching it. Flying it is very different then just watching, but I even had a hard time telling what it was doing. He told me he hated the plane because it was so hard to see.

Your fuse is looking great. Keep up the good work.
Ed

I got a bit more done. I covered the dorsal fin and rudder. The wheels are on the fuse now. I''ll do the horizontal stab and elevator next, then ailerons. I''m covering up the strip on the bottom of the wing and feathering it out with filler. I just put on some Spackling I got from Home Depot to try it. It''s nicer than the balsa filler. Dries faster too. Mred33, My friend has stripes on his wing bottom. His is also yellow. I might try a combination of stars and stripes, see how that looks.

I memory serves - the entire trailing edge of the rudder serves as the hinge line. You might consider covering it before you glue the rudder into the fuse.

I finished covering the horizontal stab and the elevators. I stripped away some of the covering to bare wood and epoxyied the stab in place. Your right SeamusG, I'll have to hing my elevators on before putting on the rudder because of the wire in between the left and right elevator.

Geez that looks nice. Remind me - did you use bright yellow or cub yellow covering?

We've been getting warm days lately but with 20+ mph winds - drat. I won't maiden my 4*60 until I have a pretty good chance of a successful landing

Keep up the gr8 work

Oops - I lied - just looked outside - snowing

I used Cub yellow, SeamusG. I don't know if it was you, but someone on here told me the bright yellow you can see through more than the Cub Yellow.
