I just received a used HeliMax on ebay and had a question about the rear tail rotor... Unit looks great undamaged, and supposedly was used at a few trade shows.

I didn't put the blades on but wanted to make sure all the electrics worked... Main rotor motor fine idle through full and "Boost" (the 40% switch on the left side). All cyclic pitches (forward, back, left, right) tilted the blades the directions they needed to go.

However the rear tail rotor motor would only power on for one direction (can't remember if it was left or right only) - but the copter would spin in a clockwise direction.

Is this normal since its not airborne and the gyro isn't sensing "flight"? I want to lean in this direction since it seems like the tail rotor would only operate when the main rotor was at a certain RPM

Status: offline 		Yes - the tail rotor only runs for right yaw. It use main blade torque for left yaw.
