Mini_Me -> Flightpower Lipo Experiences (2/28/2008 6:40:56 AM)

I'm looking at this:
http://www.flightpowerusa.com/Products/Product_Info.asp?item=EVOLITE-16002S&cat=Evo_Lite

FLIGHTPOWER EVOLITE-V2-1600 2S 7.4V
20C 32.0A CONTINUOUS,
30C 48.0 AMP BURSTS
DIMENSIONS: 72.8MM/34.3MM/18.9MM

For a M18T Pro.

Tekin Mini Rage ESC with a Hyperion 6000kv.

Any good/bad experiences with Flightpower?

I like my Thunder Power 1320s, but with this larger motor, I'm getting a bit beyond its rated C.

TTT.. I have seen people discuss it but no one has taken the plunge! Im thinking possibly going with the 3C version and running a Hacker 4900.

Love flightpower, and their sister company thunderpower, have a friend that swears by flightpower and has some pretty sick $250 (each) batteries for his planes. Definitely nothing to say bad about them I don't think. They are good to go.

I have flightpower in all varieties for my helis and planes form 3-10 cell setups. Never failed and can even take a beating and still work! It is the prefered batteries for helis in general.

When you say sister, do mean as in competition? Or that they are from the same master company?

Seeing about getting one ordered through my LHS (NOT ONLINE), but no distributors I can find have these yet. :(

Flight Power are on the same quality level as Thunder Power, the higher C discharge rating the heavier the cells. I always aim my measured peak Amps to be below the quoted constant C discharge rating (heli's), that way if you don't over charge/discharge beyond the standard lithium specs then the life span and performance is good for many cycles.

The 25C Flight Power versions advertise that they will take a 2C charge rate but I'm not sure what impact this has on cycle life.

Flightpower lipos are some of the best. I'm not sure about FP and TP being sister companies. Neither of the manufacturer's websites say anything about that. They both use Enerland cells, so maybe that's where the notion came from. If someone has info on this, I'd like to know as well. FP does, however, own the Trakpower brand of lipos. You can't go wrong with either.

Charging beyond 1C can lower life, and should not be done without a balancer *which happens to be built into my TP 610C charger*
