I don't know what happened to this thread, but it looks like the last page just dissapeared... or at least the last few posts? My last posts and pics are just gone... Weird! So I'll repost the latest pic here again. More new stuff like the pitot tube, bomb racks, wing lights, and of course, the over 90 scale access hatches.
Wing's ready for rivets finally, and I'm workin' on the fuse now. Access hatches and other details are lookin' good on the fuse... building the radiator scoop and arrestor hook now, then the bomb trapeze. I should have some new pics of the fuse soon.
PS: I found a navigation error (perpetual loop) on my site and fixed it, so now the section linked to above should work properly.
She's pretty much done and ready for riveting now... except for covering the control surfaces and detailing the fiberglass cowl. Here's a few pics of some of the new stuff, there's more pics and step-by-step fabrication documentation on my site. To pick up at the latest updates start at:
What an amazing job you have done there, I just can't wait to see it done.
I am preparing and collecting all documents and plan for the SBD and trying to make up my mind which size of SBD I should go for, 85" or 100"? definitly I will get it started right after finishing my TF Cessna 182.
Reading your web and clicking "NEXT" has been my daily routing when I get back from work.

Wallace,
Thanks a bunch! You think you can't wait... it's killing me! I'm dying to get color on this bird. I've got to get it painted before it gets too cold to open the shop doors and shoot paint, so I'm on a tight schedule for completion. Goal is to have it all done and painted (except for cockpit & bomb) by end of October. Then I can relax and enjoy building "Jig Dog's Office" which is going to be the funnest part.
Good luck on completing your Cessna and upcoming SBD. I really like the size of the 85" version for storage and transporting. Downside is it's really hard to fit engines and components in it. It's a tough call.

Well Tom you may just have a bomb, not a museum piece but pretty close and I'm sure it'll look great falling from your plane in a dive! The lump of foam came out pretty good, I'm going to give it a coat of cloth and resin and I'll send it off to you.

Thanks for the compliments guys!
Luke, That bomb is awesome!!!! You are my hero ;-) I think that one's gonna be my static bomb! I'll slop together something not quite that nice to drop. Jim's helpin' me figure out how to detail them. The hand drill lathe thing is a brilliant idea... why didn't I think of that? What do you use as a cutting tool? Regular wood lathe tools? Any special source for the styrofoam? I really appreciate your help and will plug you and your site on my SBD site for sure!
Jim, Got the article you sent... thanks go to you as well. Don't know what I'd do without all you friendly warbird compadres out their! Yeah those last few details on my plane really got me pumped up... it's startin' to really come to life.
Now that I've got almost everything done, I'm able to get a closer AUW estimate... doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to get under 24 pounds after I add the cockpit, crew and bomb. Maybe even 25? We'll have to wait and see. Still shouldn't be TOO terribly heavy on the wing loading, but I would have loved to keep it down around 22 pounds. Hopefully that big ol' 1 pound radial dummy will keep me from having to add a ton of nose weight to balance!
