Hi all, I've been looking for a great looking P-40 for quite a while now. I know WM has one but in the pics it looks, well, ugly-not P-40 ish. GSP has one too but I like the Flying Tiger scheme.
Maybe I'm wrong about the WM P-40. Anyone have any personal pics to show?
Any other .40, .40-.60, .60+ size ones out there, somewhere?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeff

BTW, retracts are a major plus!

See if you can pick up a copy of the April 2002 RC Report Magazine. There is a nice article on the Kyosho P-40.

I think you basically have a choice between the World Models or the Kyosho P-40.

I think the Kyosho is a little more scale looking but doesn't come with retracts. The World Models version doesn't look quite right to my eye, but does have the retracts already installed.

I too would like to hear some more comments on these two planes.

I have a NIB Hobbico P-40 ARF made in early 90's. Retract ready (can use the Hobbico rotaters or better yet the mechanical Robarts made for the red box Corsair years back). 61" wing span, takes 46-61 2 stroke, or up to 90 4 stroke. I have a Model Airplane News review of it from 1993 with pretty high marks (what plane don't they praise!). Email me for pictures.

The UK firm Flair has a nice one for a .52 4 stroke, reviewed (by me!) in the March RCM&E magazine. It has a pre-painted fiberglass fuselage and cowl, foam wings with film covering. See www.flairproducts.co.uk.

Very interesting. Those planes are the same as what Giant Scale Planes are selling here in the US.

They must both be getting them from the same factory.

Doing a straight FX conversion the prices at Flair are cheaper than GSP too! Doesn't take into account any shipping though.

Yeah, the Flair and GSP P-40s look about the same. The Kyosho is a little smaller than I would like.

Any others out there?

Warjet, sent you an Email.

Thanks,
Jeff

Kyosho just reissued the ARF P-40
It is reviewed in this months RCM (the one which just came out) It really doesn't look right. unfortunately the only P-40's I have seen that look close to right are Kits. TF Gold is pretty good, and Ziroli's is a good Giant scale. Giant scale planes looks awful, (I live near the warehouse and have looked at it) GSP's new T-Bolt is pretty good. Otherwise I'd say take the time to buy a good kit and enjoy Building it.

A good landing is one you can walk away from, but, a great landing is when you can re-use the airplane.... immediately
