Rufcut -> Pin-up girl decals (2/29/2008 3:34:33 PM)

Does anyone know where I can find a pin-up girl decal similar to the ones used on many WWII aircraft? I'm planing on naming my plane after my wife as a surprise. I have a friend that can do the lettering but I think the decal would really help the overall effect. I think I can get a lot of mileage out of this, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Rufcut

Make sure you're talking about the decal before answering this loaded question![:D]

Well, in that case, always large. [:D]

I personally make my own. A good printer and decal paper go a long way.

in the mood stickers are available for the plastic models, you would be better to buy a set of them and send to have copies made onto vinyl. i'll see what i can find.
this is what mike is doing for me, great guy to work with.

Thanks for the response everyone. The DECAL [;)] needs to be 3" to 5" tall depending on the orientation and she had better be a blonde if I know what's good for me. I'll check out those sites.

Thanks

It is fairly easy to make your own. Just find an image you like on the internet and save it to your hard drive. Then in your photo editor you can add whatever lettering you like and then print it out. Here is one I made for my P-47.

One very easy solution is go to your local auto parts store and check the accessory aisle. The street racer kids cover thier cars with decals now, so there are several self-adhesive decals that, with a little trimming, work very well. I put one of these on an Extra 300 and it lasted longer than the plane did. I've seen them at NAPA, Pep Boys, etc. Pep Boys in particular had a large selection. Most are modern looking, but a few have a nostalgic pin-up look about them.

I purchased mine from a website called www.cafepress.com It was about that size and the cost was reasonable for around 5 bucks. I do like the artwork you guys produced on your own better and the ability to letter it the way you want is cool.

I see I came to the right place. I've found several that will fit perfectly. Kmot, that is exactly what I'm looking for. I want it racy but I think a nude would be a little over the top for my wife. I'll let you know how she reacts when I show her. I think she'll get a real kick out of it.

Thanks again

Hi there with reference your pinup girls ,if you look on ebay and search for seller hectic-hillbilly from the uk. there are loads to buy in all sizes. you can also go to www.hectic-hillbilly.co.uk
I hope this helps as you can ask for what you like.

jobe9 -> RE: Pin-up girl decals (4/6/2008 4:24:10 AM)

I just bought some great pinup girl decals off ebay too. I got them from another seller isthisavailable13, they have a store there called Nature's Miracle Minerals....
http://stores.ebay.com/Natures-Miracle-Minerals don’t ask me about the name. I got a couple of different sizes from them and had a custom sheet done as well. They were really easy to deal with and prompt in answering my questions. AND the nice part is that they are actually here in the US, no outsourcing. LOL Sorry!! For all you guys outside the US, I think they do ship internationally. I got my decals in about 3 days and the quality of the decals was really really good. I was so stoked to find them. Finally, decals for model builders.

Josh

bigtim -> RE: Pin-up girl decals (4/6/2008 4:42:16 AM)

most if not all those images can be found on the Alberto Vargas site,since he was the origonal painter of the images,and can be printed on waterslide material using a decent printer for pennies.
funny the way the site reads its like these designs were made up by them,and they want 10$ for there work

jobe9 -> RE: Pin-up girl decals (4/6/2008 4:50:32 AM)

Well, some of us don't have the resources to do that. I just thought I would share what I found with people who were in the same situation that I am in.

KentuckyColonel -> RE: Pin-up girl decals (4/6/2008 6:57:52 AM)

I generally make my own, as described by others on this thread. I've been looking for a "Southern Belle" or "sexy hillbilly" for my next P-51 which I will name "Kentucky Woman", Anyone know of where I could find one?

camdyson -> RE: Pin-up girl decals (4/6/2008 8:15:22 AM)

check out this thread - "willey" seems to have 'em all![:D]

Cobra99 -> RE: Pin-up girl decals (5/4/2008 3:29:28 AM)

You guys who mention making your own, what kind of paper are you using? I noticed some said water slide, but what about for using on Monokote? I'm working on a 40 size Mustang which will later be upgraded to a 1/5 scale Top Flite version, but for the Monokote I'm not sure how/if the water slide decals would work.
