Hmmm I dont know . Make sure you get the Glow conversion kit also. Get it when you call Chris if not already.

Im sorry for your bad luck on this one. This rarely happens and is the first Ive heard with Extreme Flight planes.

All right boys and girls.... just got back from the flying field. It was a 20mph crosswind but I am tired of waiting on the wind to behave so.... I went and got some cross wind practice this morning. It was truly coming west... at my back.... 90 degrees from the runway.... can't get more crosswind then that!

First of all let me say that the Extra looks stunning coming at you crabbing at 45%!! But.. it does handle the wind very well for such a small craft. I was both surprised and impressed.

The 8 ounce tank works great.... I was shooting for a comfy 15 minutes and got it. I think it would be about 20 minutes worth to completely empty the tank. So.... with the 8 ounce and an 82 working on it's 4th gallon.... I have a very comfortable 15 minutes and some reserve for when they can not hear me yelling..LANDING!!!!!!!!!!!

I am really pleased with this plane.... I like it better everytime I fly it.

Well.... got mine almost all dialed in now.... and loving it.

I need to dial in the prop.... I have a Xoar 14x6 on it and it is to fast and to difficult to slow down

I found a Zinger Pro 15x4 I am going to try next... I wanted a 14x5 Zinger Pro but none in stock at the LHS.... I ordered one

How about some suggestions please??? (Saito 82 / 30% Cool Power Pro Pattern fuel)

Thanks!
SDS

PS: The 8 oounce tank is working GREAT

Im taching a 14x4w at 10,700 on 30% so the 15x4 will probably be good.
Not sure how the Pro will compare at that pitch. but the APC really freed the rpms up.
I gained 1700 rpm over a 14x6 pro vs the 14x4w . I know its not really a fair comparison I guess. I stuck with the 14x4w just because the engine ran so well with it.

just got back in from the field...

the 15x4 wasn't it.... I put the Xoar 14x6 back on it.... I think I like it the best so far.... I am going to try a Zinger Pro 14x5... if I don't like that better then the 14x6 Xoar..... then the Xoar wins. I am not a 3D'er.... I fly IMAC, artisitic aerobatics, and freestyle.

Today was the first day I have flown the Extra in smooth air... WOW.... what a GREAT flying bird!!!!

ATTENTION: Anybody looking for an aerobatic plane this size.... make no mistake.... this is the plane you want. It is absolutely the best flying, best designed, best built airplane in it's size range bar none. I have been flying RC for 40 years.

Michaelh...

Thats GREAT!!!! Hope your weather is good today and that you have a terrific day of flying the worlds best 58" airplane!

What are you using to ignite your glow plug? do you have a remote or do you fumble around underdeath with a regular ni starter?

later,
SDS

Had fun today! Although my 14x4w got busted right on the first start and had to use a 14x4 MAS k which had way different performance.Had to keep off the throttle with it.
I guess I will try the 14x6 pro and JZ's tomorrow.

SDS, I do not have a remote for this one. Its a PIA for sure but Im getting used to it.

After a great day of flying yesterday..... I think it is going to be a 14x6 for this thing..... but the Xoar will not let it turn up enough. I am going to try an APC 14x6 and see what RPM I can get out of that.

My 82 was a little finicky yesterday....... I had to jack with the needles a bit. I had a deadstick but slicked it in right on the runway. I am not getting a good idle untill it gets really warmed up. The APC is heavier then my Xoar so maybe that will help the idle a bit. I have a type F plug.... may just put a fresh one in.

I made a remote igniter set up that works great with Deans plugs and a wheel collar.

The Extra continues to be a superb flying craft.

Sorry to say but thats why I stay away from Xoars now. I run them on my E planes but thats it. They just load the engine down too much.

I was getting 9000 with a 14x6 JZ the pro I would almost compare to the Xoar but maybe a little better. This was with 15% and the idle was also pretty bad.

Im still waiting for the engine to wear in some My idle is at 2700 right now. I have no issues landing or slowing down .Also a friend came through with a 14x4w
What a great prop! Ill probably end up going tback down to 15-20%

Hmmm I got a couple hours to waste, wind is kicking. I could probably go pull some numbers maybe for future reference.

I am getting 9300 on the Xoar 14x6 (30% Cool Power Pro Pattern)

As soon as I get an APC 14x6 I will report

The 14x4W is just not going to be enough pitch for me

I sure hope the APC 14x6 works out well. I would like to end my tweaking and concentrate on flying

Ok I didnt bother trying the pro yet I got 9150rpm out of the JZ it really didn't idle that bad though. I can get it down to 2100 but shakes alot so set it up to 2500rpm.Its actually Idling better then my APC.
I may give it a try in the air to see how it runs.

Oh yeah Im using Cool Power 30% Heli .

Good thread here guys! I'm definitely looking at this plane with either a Saito 72 or 82. Plan to run my Wildcat 30% heli fuel in it so I don't have to carry two types of fuel.

Hi Shane,
Welcome to our thread!

Get the 82 not the 72

I have Hitec HS-5245MG's in mine but the 225MG's will work just fine too. I have a HS-5475HB for rudder (475HB works fine there) and I like the HS-65HB for throttle

Happy Memorial day,
SDS

Thanks for the reply.

I think I'm looking at this setup:
Saito .82
Hitec HS-225MG for aileron and elevator
Hitec HS-635HB for rudder
Hitec HS-81 for throttle (already have)

I am in college and would rather not spend the money right now to put digitals in it. I'm definitely liking this plane the more I read about it
