Its nice, I really like it. The engine mounts could have had a better fit ,but work. Incidences are good, had to tweek a wing a little, like maybe 3/4 of a degree twisted.I dont think many people would even bother with that though.
So far the build has been straight foward. Have not had any problems or issues with it.

The 82a is a nice running little engine also. Going to try a 15x6 with 30% but the 15% on a 14x6 does good.

Also know that CG may be an issue on these glow conversions. Running the dual elevators may be necessary.

Ill know more for sure later this week.

Anybody else? Reports have said that the plane has dwindled the supply of 5245's so there has got to be more people with this plane.

I've had mine for a while now.
saito .72
4 5245's
1 225 mg (throttle)

I used the elevator joiner so I could use the second elevator cut-out for a push-pull rudder.
kind of a waste putting 2 $50 servos on the elevator. 5245 on the rudder is plenty also. KE loops no problem.
also frees up the rudder servo pull-pull area for room to mount the battery and rx.
be careful of the canopy/ hatch paint. it chips easily. I took some hinge tape and ran it along the edge of the hatch that goes beneath the cowl.
don't over tighten the spinner screws. It will split the plastic.
when mounting the wheel pants. a bit of 2 sided sand paper in between the landing gear and wheel pant will hold it on a little better. I fly off rough grass and had 1 fly off till I used some sand paper and really tightened them down well.
balanced fine no added weight. just moved my rx battery.
I usually use a apc 13 x 6 propeller on my 72 but came across master airscrew 13x6 S2 series glass filled nylon propeller on tower. I have a new favorate prop for this engine. spins just over 11 grand on the ground and really jumps out of a hover.

Thanks for the report badfish... it is really appreciated

Can you tell us a bit about the flight characteristics?

Also was the conversion to glow any problem?

plane flys great. almost no coupling in KE. cg will influence this tho. first time I attempted a KE loop I was shocked it didn't flop out of it at the top of the loop. sat right in it like a profile. flat spins great. getting a little rock in upright harriers but I need to add some weight on the left side of my plane. I'm flying with some right ail. trim. landings are a breeze. it will go pretty slow before it looses lift. covering is awesome. I left my pilot and floor out so I could see my fuel tank. which I mounted only half-way back to the wing tube. thats a bit far for most glow engines liking. when I get a chance I'll post a few pics.

the conversion was pretty simple. EF gives you ply already cut to correct dimensions to glue around the firewall. I started gluing them and then realized the firewall has right thrust built in. so certain pieces have exact locations. the ply strengthens the whole front end.

Only on the rudder. Got my 5245's in last night and the CG is working out good so no problems there. Wx dependent Ill have her up this weekend on 30% with a Zinger 15x6 , Im hoping for around 9200 rpm with it but well see. That would be kinda insane

Does it look like you might be able to open up the servo holes a little and use standard size servos? Wouldn't take much.... standards are only slightly larger then mini's

mini's 0.7" x 1.3" x 1.2"

Standard 0.75" x 1.49" x 1.52"

Open the width 0.05" and the length 0.19" and ya got it.... pretty sure you would be ok on the depth.... would just be a 0.32 increase in depth

What do you think??

Thanks,
SDS

Nah theres no way on the tail. there is just enough wood to hold the mini's in. the wing has a recessed desighn in it . I may or may not be wrong but wing seems a bit skinny for them also.

Anything is possible I know. But there will be major mods to be done to fit them in.

Ill see what I can show you on a pic ?

I think I like how badfish did his servos...2 in the rear and no pull pull. That's how my Funtana X 50 is set up and it works great

How well does this the Extra do precision? Is it smooth flying.... does it groove?

I am real close to being able to order mine.... scraping up cash... almost there!!! (very jazzed!)
