Status: offline 		Flew mine about 12 times over the weekend, and hit the ground kinda hard a couple times, no problems . At one time we had 3 of them chasing a Giant Scale float plane, it looked like fighters going after a bomber, it was a great time. Try a 10x6 on the Rossi, what % nitro? How far of a drive is it to Seguin from The Valley? maybe come up to the races in May and meet and hang out with us.

Oh and did you join the "Brotherhood" yet?

Status: offline 		MJ - Sorry, it's been so long since we dealt with the weak gear blocks I forget to tell people to reinforce them. It is second nature by now.

We all learned over a year ago that the gear blocks on both SRM2 and LA Racer need to be reinforced to hold up to the rigors of racing.

Just lay a piece of 3/16" ply (soaked in epoxy) in front of the gear block, (bottom of fuse) and another over the top of both. Pour in half an ounce of epoxy and it will NEVER move.

I have an LA Racer that is over a year old and still flying great. I fly it every weekend as a sport plane and race it every month.

Lots of people seem to think that a 45 will just naturally be faster than the 40's we use. Don't believe it! The TT Pro 40 will out run most, if not all, 45 - 46 engines in this airframe! I have also run away from a 55 AX on the same airframe!

I would BET a TT Pro 40 with a 10x5 APC is faster than your Rossi! If you ever get near San Antonio, come and take me up on it. I fly at many fields in / around San Antonio.

Status: offline 		Listen to him Edward,, I didn't now I have 2 OS FX 40's for nothing. The TT pro 40 is a better engine. That's ok I'm still young enough to be foolish.

Status: online 		sounds like you had a good time eric....yes ive been hearing a lot of good things about tt engines... Thanks gunfighter for the heads up, i already beefed it up pretty good, and reversed the landing gear so its angles forward and wont have the tendency to nose over in a rough field.... its funny you mention TT engines there was thius guy who had one on a tower hobbies Kaos and it was passingh me, he had a 10x6 mas, that bird was fast, the guy was purpously trying to race with me, he would always try to get in when i was doing my low flybys lol

i think im gonna pull the la racer stickers off, its making my rossi look bad heheh

some one mentioned seguin, thats about a good 6 hours away, i have a friend that lives in austin, and maybe one of these days ill go visit him and take my racer with me

C'mon MJ, it's only 300 miles!! You should be able to make that in under 5 hours - this IS Tejas after all!!

I live just west of New Brunfels (N. of San Antonio) and I make it to San Benito in about 4 hours. Drive it several times a year!

Come on up to Seguin May 3rd and watch the race. I'll bet you fly in the next one!!!

Racer.... i finally put a reliable engine on it, the Rossi 45 quit on me, and didnt run great, probably needs a carb kit, i remember i could see gas oozing out of the needle valve assembly. I put my trust OS 50sx and it flew like a dream, i felt so confident that i did some nice low knife edge passes. It is now my favorite airplane to fly, for all around fun ... i think i might buy another one


*Edit i bet if everyone one at the club who has mastered low wing airplanes, and knew how well it flies would go out and buy the la racer

Status: offline 		I just finished a LR. 1 of the highest quality ARF kits I ever bought. Most of the covering was lose due to temp changes, couple hours with the iron easy fix. I have an O.S. La .40 on, seems like a cool Sunday flyer.

I'll do the maiden in a week or 2. How does the LR handle slow flight/ stalls?

Real honest and stable, for a low wing plane. BUT when it stalls, it's nose down, and falling like a rock. I "Dropped" mine from about 10-12 feet, right on the spinner, broke the prop.

I would like to race with you guys but with my schedule, I'm lucky to make it to my local field 5 miles down the road. You guys have a nice website and a organized rc club.

Status: offline 		Building this kit tonight using electronic and motor from my pulse xt. My jr 527 servo's seems too long for the factory wing pocket. Am I doing something wrong here?

Status: offline 		Well,,,, I found out today the a LA Racer CAN NOT survive a "10G Belly Flop" "Doh!!!" Tim found the engine and battery a good 12 yards from the piont of impact, or crater of impact.
