First off, thank everyone on this site and SPADTOTHEBONE.com for all the wonderful information.

I have used the information to make planes over the years that have provided hours of fun flying for me so I thought I would share this one with everyone. There doesn't seem to be very many inexpensive electric SPADS out there.

I have flown this design for a long time made out of foam. Great flyers but very fragile. I wanted to make one that could take some abuse and still look good. I am using a Turnigy 4040 geared 6:1 with a 12/6 GWS SF prop. Pulls about 15amps with a 3 cell 1000mah lipo. Has lots of power and rockets out of a hover. Motor is less than 20 bucks from ****. Plane is made from 2mil coroplast. Wing is one piece; fuse is cut down the middle and slid over. Tooth picks and CA are run down the top flutes. It has carbon fiber rods inserted through the wing, but unless you are flying the crap out of it you will not need them. It has less flex than you might think. Hovers like it is on a string, forward high speed flight is good but a little pitchy. Inverted flight is good, climbing flat spins look really good. Anyway build one you want be disappointed. Let me know if you need dimensions or have any questions.

Brandon

I will try and get some better information when I get a chance but here is enough to get you started. Plane is made from 2mil coro. Cut the body of the plane in one piece, cut out between the elevons and the triangles to let the rudder move. Hinge the elevons by cutting off on side of flute. Cut a 2" slot in the front center 2mil wide. Cut fuse to shape, cut 2mil slot down center leaving the last two inches un-cut, and slide it on the body. Notch to Notch. Use tooth pics poked down through the holes ever few inches with thin CA dripped down on top of them. I will post some measurements below now but I will try and put all of this on a picture soon. Just get it close, This style works very well to if you just use the " Looks about right" method. Even the balance point can be moved some and still fly great. Use the measurements to cut it out in cardboard, trace it to the coro, etc. Use a string, with a straight pin to make the front curve. use CA and Kicker after removing the oil. (flash it) Normal SPAD building. Email me if you have quesitons.

Total length is 31"
width is 22"
Rudder is 8x8
Elevons are 8"long 9.5" wide
Bottom of fuse is 1 1/2" at the front slanted to 2.5" at the rudder
top is 1.5" at the nose and 5 1/4" to match the rudder
Balance point is 9" from front of fuse give or take.
