If you go to 3Dfoamy.com you will find several different high performance foam aircraft plans that are free to download, you will also find building instructions, power system recomendations, flying tips and a hole lot of other info that you will need to do an electric foamy build. Definatly worth a look, some of there aircraft are real stunners in the air. I personaly have built there F15 with a brushless setup and can tell you that it is a very powerful little aircraft, and well worth the time put into the build.

Guru101 is right. There are great tips on the 3dfoamy site. In the end it will come down to personal preference. I use a combination of glues. Foam safe CA of course and white glue. I have had good luck with both. I have heard of people using titebond wood glue as well with good results. Just be careful, glue means weight.

I'm building a 3dfoamy supercap and am about to go hunting for glue.

What about spray glues like 3m?
Seems like something like this would be perfect for gluing these cores together.

Anyone try anything like this?

Monster,

I have used the 3M spray adhesive on all of my 3D Foamy planes with no problems. It is alot easier then trying to spread glue on the cores and you save weight.

Gene

so, tips and tricks? spray both sides? Do you use push pins or something for aligning things? How fast does it tack up? Is there any time to move it or as soon as it's laid down is is THERE?

Any pointers would be most appreciated, I'll pickup some spray adhesive this afternoon.

I got the elmers spray.
Did a test piece, worked fine.

Did the wing core and wing skin, soon as I touched them to each other they were permanently stuck. Ruined these two pieces. Hopefully I can get another quicker than the 3 weeks it took to get the kit itself.

What I found was that I hadn't applied a thick enough layer of the spray. Apply it thin and it tacks up by the time you have the other sprayed, then when they touch each other it sticks immediately.
If I put a thicker layer on and it stays movable for quite some time. Actually longer than I'd like.

Comparing to regular spray painting, a coat that would be your first coat of paint is too thin, a coat that's like the last glossy coat is a bit too thick. Somewhere in between would be ideal, err to the side of thicker as it will allow you to move the pieces.

Oh well.

With any luck John will reply that I can get these two parts (4 pcs).
