Ron,

Very nice video on the first flight of your XYZ-50. I am just about done with the wing of the P-40 and will start the fuselage tomorrow. I still have to get my century jet landing gear for the plane. I hope to have the plane finish by the end of the month.

A 16x10 prop should work very well on this size of engine. I have a 26 gasser using a APC 17x8 prop and it spins it at 7500RPM and has more than enough power for my CG Stinson. Here is a small video.

I am getting close to being being done with my Skyshark P-40N. I will be posting more RPM #'s once I am finished with the build. I have some Bambula 20x10 & MA 20x10 props I plan to use on the XYZ-50. A freind of mine fly's his Skyshark P-40N with a Brison 3.2(52cc) with a Zinger 20x10 props. He is getting 7000RPM and the plane fly's great. I hope to get close to 7000 RPM with a Bambula 20x10. I was getting 7200RPM with a APC 20x8 prop so I think it will be close. I'll let you know how it goes,

Well I finally got around to testing the XYX-50 again. I have a MAS 20x10 and a Bambula 20x10. I will never waste my money again on a MAS prop. That prop was so far out of balance I thought I was never going to balance it. Once I got the MAS 20x10 prop balanced I only got 6200RPM with the XYZ-50. I changed the prop out to the Bambula 20x10 prop that was balanced right out of the package. The XYZ-50 loved the Bambula prop and the engine jump to 6950RPM. Plenty of power for my Skyshark P-40.

Steve,

I would call and talk to Ron about your choice of prop size. I was using a APC 20x8 prop and Ron told me that prop was to small to use. It would allow the engine to over rev during breakin and could have caused a problem. If you look at recomemded prop size's the 20x10 is the smallest size to start with. Just my 2 cents here.

Sorry about that I was thinking 50cc. 17x6 on a 26cc should be good

Well, I have about 10 flights on my big Cap 232 with the XYZ-50 and I am still VERY happy with the engine. I am now at 6800rpm stationary with TONS of vertical power. I am running 120 octane aviation fuel at 32-1 mix. The engine starts great, runs smooth and with the JFX 21x8 prop I have ample power. I promise that I will have video soon.

Here are the numbers we found from last weekend.
Both engines were new out of the box so we let both run
for about 20min at 2500rpm so that they had
at least some break-in. Also, attached are two pics
of the go cart we used to test.

XYZ-50cc:
Xoar 20x10 15.5lbs @ 6300rpm
TBM 22x8 - 16.5lbs @ 6000rpm
JXF 21x8 18.5lbs @ 6500rpm

XYZ-26cc:
APC 16x8 8.5lbs @ 7900rpm
Xoar 17x8 - 10lbs @ 7000rpm
JXF 18x8 10lbs @ 6700rpm

For my own interest, I am giving these engines to a couple friends at our club
to see what the numbers look like after they have some flight time on them.

We used a fish scale that was not short of rust and in need of oil.
I wish we had a better one because we will need to use that same scale
again when we do this after some flight time.
