I'm going to my first Top Gun ever. I've always wanted to go and see the event as I've been collecting the videos/CD's since the early 90's. I've been sidelined with two major heart surgeries and a couple of "attacks" which always seemed to postpone me going, but this time I'm going to do it! I just want to see the "best of the best" and their creations and if possible meet Greg Hahn and Frank Tiano. I would like to hear from a couple of readers who have been there and get their impressions. Thanks Joe

Well, Top Gun seems to be losing it's magic every year. Last year's $20 "pit pass" after paying for parking and admission was enough to make it so I WILL NEVER attend again !! Imagine paying admission to see some beautiful models only to find they want another $20 so you can SEE those models you just paid to see....

What a ripoff.

I''m looking forward to going. I''ve been going since 2000. It has had better lay-outs, facilities, and was cheaper; however, the people, friends, and aircraft are worth it (mostly on thursday and saturday for the aircraft). If you want to find me, look by the futaba tent, i''ll be down there on thirsday-saturday.

Stop by the Judging tent and say hello. Sorry if the pit pass thing upsets some of you, but I think it would be worth it to be able to rub elbows with the competitors, and see the planes up close and personal.

Bill, some of us expect to be able to do that by paying admission, parking, and food. These guys are popular with us but we aren't talking movie stars or super models

Gee, when I was growing up, I thought that this was exactly what the Big Guns in this hobby were. I guess I haven't really changed my opinion. And if the planes are not Super Models (pun intended) I don't know what you would call them. Just the best there is.

I'll post some photographs tomorrow night, when I get home, and will post more each night. I hope I don't post any redundand pictures of the same plane, but if so, let me apologize in advance.

Here are a few photo's from the first day (Today) The Corsair has a very interesting wing fold system. It works like a set of retracts, and is from Germany. Flew well too.

Very nice pictures!

I'm not aruging that these guys aren't great modelers, just that I don't think I should have to pay again just to get a few steps closer to them, especially what he was charging for pit passes the year I went.
