Your going to love JBB How much the plane weigh with that engine combo?
Do you plan on getting a spoiler when they come out?

Keith,
DEFINITELY getting a Spoiler, but I'm hearing 2 0r 3 months before they're available, and I probably won't "make the cut" for one of the first unless its "first deposit, first served" The Big Boy weighs in a 10lbs, 7 oz all up, dry. I just want to make sure the engine is broken in before I fly a strange plane, altho I expect it to have similar manners to my UltraStick 120. I really am looking forward to getting it in the air!

Hey, I got to fly the Big Boy today again. It carried a little snow into the air on the first flight and picked up a lot of water on the landing. No problem, this plane will handle it all. Propnut flew the Twister and it got stuck in the snow during taxi. Also made the first flight with the OUTLAW. This plane flies great! It takes getting used to, and my skill level lacks a little, but if it lasts, I will catch up. Hard elevator pulls result in a sharp 90 degree change in direction. Snap roll inputs make it stop in mid air. This thing is WILD. Propnut should have his ready by next weekend. It flies much better than the Mach Racer.

Ok,

I've been reading the older thread for the past 6 months (since I got the JBB). That's about how long it took me to catch up.... whew!
It's by pure luck that I even came across the JBB (and leading ultimately to the Spoiler);

My friend Jerry L was given the plane which he had never heard of, by a late fellow club member who ran across it, and though it was a "neat" name.
So Jerry got really good at sport flying (not into 3d stuff) and when I expressed an interest in learning to fly planes back in March '07, He started me on his Kadet LT-40, and then let me try the Big Boy a few times. No buddy box, just hand me the radio after taking it 4 mistakes high and I give it back when I've had enough. Even tried dead stick soaring (which he does, and I do alot on purpose now) and my first landing was in fact deadstick. I became really hooked on flying that plane, and he told me it would be mine when our other friend finally got his second step. So long story short, the Big Boy has been mine since Aug '07 and I love it. He has regretted giving it up ever since, and I was going to surprise him with a new Spoiler when they came out, but I couldn't keep the secret, and we're both awaiting the release of the spoiler! I love these planes!

thats a good story JB, the big boy was my 2nd plane too and i think it would make a great 1st plane. i now fly mostly giant scale gas but alway come back to the JBB or spoiler for just all out fun. no matter what you fly or your style of flying the spoiler should be in your hanger.
doug, i got 3 more fligts on my delta wing screamin deamin yesterday. i still don't have the pipe adjusted and am coming up aprox 3000 rpm short but tim g radared it at 140mph, i'm hoping for much faster still. it won't do what a outlaw can it's just a go fast plane but it will get the heart pumping. haha!

I had a Lanier Quickie 500 plane that used a similar kind of mount. However, is this what you refer to as a "washer mount"? Are they readily available for OS 160's or do they need to be fabricated?

this one was fabricated by a friend but the washer/ wood works the same way. maybe spoilerman has one not on a plane he can post pics of.
