She looks pretty slick eh Mike? I am trying to work out if she has landing gear,I think I can see a bag with wheels in it in one of the photos...it is academic really as I have blown the monthly RC budget on 3 new Spektrum Rx's.The nice think about wings and deltas is that they can fly very slow as well as fast, imagine this one screaming around on a little 4S pack...tempting...

Havent got a lot in 'trainers' mongrel that are ARF or RTF.
I do have an EGO Predator ARF in stock that would make a good trainer, only thing with them is they glide a glide.

LOL, yeah the 262 is a beast and at $2 grand just for the airfame it's way out of my budjet but they realy are a work of art when finished.

And i wouldn't pick one of the 'other' models, it'll make the 262 look a cheap option at $2k

CRAWF, Im shocked that you are leaving, please keep in touch. You have been a great member of the thread, a super contributor and a great help to everyone. You will be sorely missed.

Clovus- here you go mate. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508902 Mine is modified though, it has smaller fins and no tail, I figured they just added drag and weight.

Made a few calls today about Park Flyers...
The Minimag will be waaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my budget when I factor in the cost of battery, radio gear & speedie! It retails for $135.95 & that's only with motor & prop'.
I was also advised not to buy the Minimag as a beginner plane as it is classified as an intermidiate plane...
The Super Cub is $199 RTF.
This EGO Cessna is now a 7 cell as opposed to 6 cell?
I wish there was more info' available on this model...

You'd think I was buying a house!
Why is this so difficult!!!

Daz.

Hi Guys,

Crawf's decision is a quite sad. I sent him a PM but I just wanted to say to all here that I have valued his friendship, advice and contributions to this thread over the past 18 months or so and that as far as I am concerned he will always be welcome back here.

But - the show must go on...

Picked up some 1s 450mAh cells today from my lhs. Going to combine into a new pack for the slow flyer, which hopefully you all got to have a bit of a gander at in the Mongrel's vid - thanks mate - was a good day, but those goat tracks are a bit rough on the aircraft, and the pilots nerves {the one I landed the Zero on in the vid has the approach over the part of the field where you seem to lose orientation, then it runs parrallel to a fence - only about a metre and half from it, so you have to be precise as you descend and finally the rocks on the track are almost bigger than some of the models wheels} - for us nancy pancy pilots used to a bitumen apron it all seems a little agricultural

Also picked up some more flash bulbs (have you ever used these gizmos for controlling precisely the amount of CA... this is interesting as it means that this evening I am almost certainly, after having sit in its box for well over 6 months, going to start building my Stevens aero G300 - the RV4 has served me well - hoping the G300 proves to be just as good.

G300 info:

DAZ,

Here is the Cessna thread. The EGO Cessna is the same plane as the Artech Cessna... just rebranded. There are a stack of posts... I have been on there or a while and a good bunch.

I hope you find it helpful

Hey J,
That thread really doesn't sound all that convincing!
There seems to be quite a few issues with build quality on the Cessna...
Is the Art- Tech the exact same brand as Ego-Models?

Deafwish,
The Minimag is such a sedate model (3 channel) I cannot believe anyone would tell you that. Mate .. I flew it in a gale and it still flew Ok. (Underpowered - stock with a 2S lipo)

Mate if you just want to fly .. go the cub and bring it out here to me .. I will maiden it for you .. trim it up and then you will have a plane you can fly and enjoy cheaply ... then when your hooked ... you can start parting with the big bucks for the more expensive models. Dont stress .. the Cub is a great plane .. I still love it .. and I have 10 planes .. I just need to pack it with some more punch (and maybe add some ailerons )

Rowdy,
It is amazing how much you get for your dosh with the electrics there. That 40 amp ESC with the switch mode BEC is a beauty IMHO.Query away on the Gemini if you need a hand, myself,Kx,Bert and Andrew have all got one,and will be willing to help if needed, they are a fine machine.

Well, yes/no sort of.
the EGO Cessna IS the Artech Cessna BUT Andrew from EGO models (the importer) goes to a fair bit of trouble to to get the EGO's assembled to a better spec.
36mhz rx/rx Aussie spec radio gear
8cell battery (was 7 cell)
Sim package
ALL parts available as spares
Aileron wing upgrade
basicaly if you ask 100 people on here whats the "best" trainer you will get 110 answers.
Ther are lots of good trainers, what you choose comes down to budget in the end i guess, if you can only afford $200 it's pointless looking at a trainer thats $400 even if it is a 'bit' better (or is it LOL)

DAZ - I know there are lots on that thread that say the Cessna build quality is crap... But mine is rock solid. I have never had a problem with the build quality at all. She flies really well and she can handle a few bumps and crashes. if you want to see her in action... go here and check out my vids..

http://www.youtube.com/user/ausmongrel

In particular...

"Mpre Fun With My Cessna" - This is onboard Video
"EGO Cessna Triked Up"
