Hiya Brendon, welcome - I'm the Brit here, you can probably tell by my accent!!! The guys will see you right anyway. Can your Mom or dad go with you to the fly-in, get them involved cos its makes it easier to scrounge money off them
Well, the EZ* build started, nearly done now, just need to tidy up the wiring and adjust control surfaces etc, and decals. I've noticed though, there is a very slight difference in this one to the last one, and thats that the parts don't fit together as well - still 120% better than other planes etc. I made an enlarged rudder (twice the moveable area!!) out of a oam Swift wing aileron ( ). The canopy fitment is still crap, will have to come up with something better - and thats it. Full pics when its ready..... Oh, I'm using the E-Max 2812 to start but can change to a 2805 or 2822 if needed with the cut-down 7 x 5.

looks good Tam my boy! I still reckon you should use a 3S and put a decent motor in it!

I fixed up my Cessna the other day! New motor and prop and have now reinforced the wings. Now she ROCK MY SOCKS!!

yeh, ill fly it next week so ill see how it goes. Ill probably go brushless pretty quick as i think a few brushes are burnt out in my motor so ill see how that effects performance. Its gonna cost me about $70 for the 1500kv outrunner brushless motor and programmable esc or $20 for the stock brushed motor so id rather get the brushless setup as im gonna buy it later on anyway so rather than wasting money i will buy that instead. I mean i can always go half speed with the brushless.

JohnM - I will be using a 1700 3S for first flights and see what happens, then the 2S for cruising and bruising!!
Little-known fact: The nearest shop to the White House is a dry-cleaners specialising in stain removals!!!!!

TAM - I am still curious how you crash an EZ Star. I have tried a few times but can't seem to do it. The biggest problem I have is getting it down. It just wants to keep gliding. So how do you crash one???

I know those crawf bozos have dog fights... I am not talking about that!!

There is an Australian shortage of Easy Stars (EZ*) at the moment and the suppliers have advised that it will be MAY until we get the here in ARF. They are available in RTF, but that will cost you $300 and you get another set of radio gear. The ARF model - which is only the plane and the motor, will cost about $99. You will then need to add RX, and servos.

There are a lot of us that have EZ*s on this thread, and they are FAR from stock. High powered motors and mad wing designs, and FPV systems are just changes are just some of the things you can do. They are a great aircraft - BUT are a glider-like plane. Not a highly maneuverable sports plane like the Extrafun XL.

I had to import mine from the USA because I could not get it here.

Cheers
-J

JohnM - I dogfight with Gravity!!! I'm not the best flyer in the world, I admit it. Year, all my planes fly round and around, but I have trouble landing I don't do RoG's cos they are a recipe for disaster, and my landings tend to be on grass cos its soft!! My EZ* - I launch, I fly, I cruise up and cruise around, I find a spot to land and do, but sometimes with an harsovatit I can loop all my planes, vert and roll the Strykers and touch and go's. I'm not a Somenzini or Quique and yes, I can hover (briefly!!). But if all planes didn't crash the companies would go out of business and the Crawf's would have nothing to do in the evenings!!! Your Swift would still be your bird of choice and never been rebuilt (hehehahhehha) along with one or 2 I've forgotten about. That my excuse anyway, now, back to work ya lazy good-for-nothing, I'm retired.....
