Fellow pylonaholics,

The pylon season is rapidly approaching here in the midwest. There are currently 4 races on the calendar split between Kansas City Radio Control (KCRC) and the Olathe Barnstormers.

The first race is coming up on April 26th and will be hosted at KCRC. After the success of our fall 2007 race, we will stick with the same format.

- AMA 424 on the 475’ short course.
- 5 rounds to determine placing/trophies
- Final “Fly-off” round for bragging rights and prizes. We group the heats by time to assure each pilot of a close heat. Everyone loved it last year.

Pre-register here (thank-you CAPS):

http://www.capsracing.com

PDF Version of Flyer:

http://www.capsracing.com/KCRC_Race_Flyer_2008_R1.pdf

Full KC Area 2008 schedule:

April 26th, KCRC – 424 only on short course
May 10th, Olathe Barnstormers – 424 only on short course
August 2nd & 3rd – 424 on Sat., 428 on Sun.
October 4th, KCRC – 424 only on short course

Get those racers dialed in, it’s almost time to “GO FAST AND TURN LEFT!”

AJ,

Do you require a spec engine or just a dollar amount spent on engine?

This will be my first time at your race & want to be legal for 424 Sport Quickie.

I'm guessing my MVVS engines are not allowed?

Thanks, Mike

Mike, if you look on the flyer (left page) that AJ included in the link, it tells us that the Thunder Tiger Pro .40 is the only legal engine for AMA 424 racing.

As long as life doesn't get in the way, I will see you at the race. It will be my first time racing in 17 years. See you then.

Thanks Doug,

I must have kept over looking the obvious.

Just looked again & can't seem to make it out due to print being fuzzy.

OK DUMMY ME!! Now I finally went to the link & printed it off & it's crystal clear.

Mike

MFracer - in the fall, the RC Barnstormers in Olathe are planning a two day race - the first day is 424, with the thunder tiger pro 40, and the 2nd day is currently being planned as 428 (nelson / jett and the likes) and our old "A" class, Rossi and MVVS with factory mufflers.

I think AJ's flyer had contact info for Carl Melin from the Barnstormers, too.

BTW, AJ puts on a great race. The one he ran last fall at KCRC was a great time!

Mike,

Enjoyed our conversation last night and look forward to seeing you in April.

I have uploaded new images for the flyer in my original post.

Also, I added a link to much clearer PDF copy of the flyer hosted at www.capsracing.com .

Hope that clears things up, pun intended...

Duane,

It’s shaping up to be a great one. There have been quite a few more former racers coming back out along with first timers. We should have a heck of a good time!

I encourage the newcomers to seek out the more seasoned guys and pick their brains. These gentlemen have tons of tricks and are more then willing to share.

I would be very surprised if we have less then 25 registered pilots come game day.

If you haven’t done so already, please register at:

www.capsracing.com

Kick the tires and light the fires boys!

I'm getting really excited about this event. It has been about 15 years since I have raced Q500, and about 12years since I raced at all. I dusted off the old Q500 this last week, friday installed a brand new TT40pro, Saturday ran 5 tanks through the engine on the ground with an 8x6 needled at a rich 2 stroke setting allowing the engine to cool completely between runs and leaving the piston at BDC during cooling. After the 5 tanks on the ground I set up the course at my local field using trash cans for pylons (hey it worked....only thing I could find in the club house), slapped a 9X6 on the engine and needled the engine so it was in a smooth 2-stroke but still rich, and hit the course. I flew 4 flights around the course Saturday leaning needle in a few clicks each flight and I am hooked again!! This next weekend I am leaving the country for 5days, but when I get back first thing I'm going to do is order a new Nelson Q500LS and a 428 airframe so I can race both 424 and 428 at events if both classes are offered.

Jeff,

It will be great to have you back in the mix. Causey tells me your going to be an exceptional competitor.

ALL,

Due to the incredible interest for the April 26th KCRC 424 Pylon Race (by my count ~28+ entries), the schedule has been pushed up by 1/2 hour. This will assure we finish at a reasonable time with out deviating too far from the published start time.

The 9:00am test flying restriction has been pushed up by 1 hour to 8:00am for this contest.

Here is the detailed Pilot's Schedule:

- 7:10am – Gates open
- 8:00am – Registration opens
- 8:00am - Practice begins
- 9:00am – Workers meeting and training during practice
- 9:00am – Registration closes
- 9:15am – Practice ends
- 9:20am – Pilot’s meeting
- 9:45am – Group Photo
- 10:00am – First heat on the clock

If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask.

KCRC and I want THANK everyone for the great support. Look forward to seeing everyone next week.
