I have a TT pro 46. I love it. It's on a PT-19 with a pitts muffler and 3-blade prop.
No problems whatsoever.

John

I have a GP-42 and love this thing. I have it installed in a 4 1/2 to 5 LB. kitbashed sort of plane. It is a Goldberg Falcon fusealage and a Global American Flyer wing with bigger ailerons and flies it with authority.

Not familiar with the super tigres since I have always owned four strokes. However I am thinking about getting a used S3000 or a new g3250.Now to my question. Whats the difference between these two engines. I am thinking of using it on a Hangar 9 Sundowner. Any help would be more than welcomed. Also why is a new g3250 about the same price as a used s3000

Sorry Lou -- SuperTigre and Thunder Tiger are two totally different manufacturers.

I love my Thunder Tigers! Ive got 2 Pro .36's. One in my 7lb U-2 and the other on my trainer. Ive two Pro .61's new in the box (Im hoping they run well). A Pro .46 in my T-45 Goshawk and my Hanger 9 Tango and a pair of GP .25's in my little SR-71. I'm building a bigger SR-71 that will use a pair of Pro .36's.

Little help. I have a tt pro 46 bb that's about one year old and has had about a galon of fuel through it since break in. I spent plenty of time doing a thorough break in and the engine ran great for the first year. Then, during a flight, I lost power. The engine didn't quit, but would bogg down when applying full throttle. I have it on a bench now and it does the same thing. It starts right up, runs up fine, then after a minute or less, I have to back off the throttle to keep it from dying. I can sort of gun it, intermittently to get it back up to speed but it will still only run wide open for several seconds. I haven't taken anything apart, but the crank shaft turns very smoothly and the glow plug has been replaced. Mixture seems to be right. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Tommy

Funky, Great stuff!!! Beautiful planes all. Cat , when You get an answer let me know, I have seen this on some other engines too. I was thinking either the fuel flow was plugged or perhaps a gasket leak.

jeffie8696, I have the same model. I haven't run mine yet - just finished cleaning it up - but, I hope I get numbers close to yours. 14,800 to 15,000 with an 8x4 is pretty amazing. Mine had just a slight brownish tint on top of the piston; everything else inside looked like new. I'll run it similar to what you did starting with some Sig 5% Champion with extra castor added. Then, I might also try my 1/2A fuel with a colder plug.

BTW, the old OS #21 carb is a perfect fit. I have several of these with different throat diameters (different barrels), so I might try one with a larger throat than the black plastic TT carb.

Dave you just made my day!! it was a rough one. Please keep me informed ! The carb throat size disparity between my 2 .15 size engines is huge. I am dying to see what happens.
Called Thunder tiger and ordered the gasket set for the GP 42 myself. He said it would be here in a few days.

I ran a very rich tank through my little .15. It won't quite hold a steady peak setting yet. When I get there I'll take some tach readings. It hand starts very easily.

Don't worry. More nitro will level out the peak once it is broke in . Just don't rush into it and you will be fine. It takes a while for the older engines to break in and the parts to get used to each other. these engines are not scared of nitro. I spoke to an ex racer for Fox and he said they routinely ran upwards of 40% but they were modified for it. He said a stock engine will handle 20% like a baby drinking mommas milk. I think your engine is in a little nicer shape than mine even.

My old K&B Sportster .45 just ran on 5% and the needle was a little tricky. And it is completely broke in. I am thinking 15% should do the trick next run. (and it still ran 14,010 on a MA 10X5 )

It's been too rainy to run engines. As soon as things clear up I'll fire it up.
