Wm, I did not build the fuselage in two pieces as indicated on the plan and I did get the plan after 2004. Don't know how far out the width could have been but can't imagine anyone taking a ruler to it at a show so it would have to be pretty noticeable for it to attract attention anyway. I remember this issue coming up before. I believe mine is okay. Thanks for your interest. I take it you do laser cutting?

Lacing started. I am using Kevlar cord soaked in CA for the laces and CA'd into the eyelets that are CA'd into the fabric. Just call me Mr. CA!

John,

Where did you get the Kevlar cord? I'm looking for something similar.

Thanks,
Scott

The new plan and new parts were about 3/8 inch wider that that on the previous to 2004 version. Was a fellow over at RCSCALEBUILDER who got caught. He obtained his plan and parts second handed, and did not know until well along. He sort of wondered why the instruments in the panel would not fit correctly.

If you got one within last two years, then ought to be more than OK. For I remember Bob trashing everything one afternoon.

Wm.

Scott, I think I got it from Tower Hobbies but I don't remember. It's been laying around for awhile. Wm, The only issue that came up building the fuselage was the longeron wood size. It's been over a year since I started building so I don't remember exactly what it was but I believe I had to use a different size than indicated on the plan. I always dry fit everything for alignment before gluing and I discovered the problem at that point. As I said in a previous post the plan does not show 1/64" ply sheeting laminated onto the longerons either. I don't think that was a mistake but I decided it was better to do it. Cheers.

I have the plans that are too wide. Was it just the fuselage or is the whole airplane affected?

MJ2K, It's not too wide. The original was too narrow. Lay out the parts over the plan with the longerons in place and you'll see if anything is different.

Hope to get all the hood fairings done today. I am adding the flairs around the fairings so they fit to the hood. Will add glue dots to the flairs to simulate rivets before they are painted.

Okay, finally got the fairings done on one side. I will give them a final coat of paint when I spray the aluminum parts. Oh, I'll add some fake screws to the flairs also.

Moving along and now have the fairings and alum. nose panels finished. The cylinder heads are left open until I balance the plane so I can put lead in them if need be. I'll make the valve covers out of sheet aluminum and screw them on so they will be removable. Paint is Flair PC10 Brown thinned with PPG "reactive reducer".

Okay, now I have finished the fuel tank and the cockpit combing. Still some details to do and then to paint the rest of the fuselage.

Just a few more details I have finished. The oil cap cover will hide a switch or charging jack.
