Well i couldn't find the square gutter pipe, so i just used the ribbed kind. It works just fine I did my first flight today and it was awsome. I didn't even have to trim it out.

I thought when i was building the wing that this thing would never fly. I didn't really do a very good job on it. I also couldn't find any yard sticks, so i just used some 1 and 1/2"x 1/4" birch that i found at lowe's. The wing is a little thick, but heck it still flew. I even zipped tied some of the coro together because the glue didn't hold in a couple of places. Oh, and i used the Dubro 12 oz. fuel tank, and it slid right in and fit perfect.

Anyways, my next one will be a lot better, i hope. I have a weedwacker motor looking for a home.

Great job. It ain't the prettiest, but if it flies, that's what matters. I always wondered if that ribbed pipe would work. It's all they sell around here. I had to order pipe from www.egutter.com, and it was a little spendy.

Is that an Evolution .45?

Great looking (and flying) first SPAD. It looks like a oversized DPS or Debut. Use what you got or can find cheap and have fun. As you build your third or fourth plane, you will get better and the sticker patrol will ease up on ya. Have fun.

Thanks. Yeah it works just fine. It's a little flimsy in the middy where i cut it out for the receiver. I just ordered the square stuff from a local lumber yard for $12. Now i have enough for 3 more planes. I'll just have to find some more coroplast.

It is an Evolution .46. I had it in my Pulse XT and couldn't get it to stay running. It kept stalling on me after a couple minutes into flight. It is working perfect on this one. Makes me think i had my fuel tank wrong on my Pulse.

I had to order my square pipe from Egutter. 10' length is about $11, but you have to pay $15 to have it cut down for shipping, then $9 for shipping. I paid $35 for two 24" fuses and two 36" fuses. I buy my coro from Harbor Sales. I mostly buy 2x3 sheets, which are around $2 each. For about 6 sheets shipped, it's around $20. The 2 mil stuff you have to order 4'x8' and custom cut, but the price comes out around the same.

SPADs are very addicting. If you have the materials on hand, it's hard not to keep building.

I talked to the owner of a gas station that i go to about every day, and he is going to save me all his advertisment signs. Plus i talked to a local sign company (about 1/2 mile from my house) about getting scraps from them. I paid $10 for a 30x48 piece. Does that sound about right?

Sounds pretty high $ to me. I pay $12 for a 4'x8' sheet of coro locally (colors or white).

You can get the square downspout at Agway. If they don't have it in stock they can order it from thier supplier. It is about $14 for 10', no shipping charge.

Look for a sign shop supplier or plastic distributor to find cheaper coro. I get 4mm in a 4x8 sheet in most colors for 14 bucks and can get 2mm in white for a little less. 2mm is nice to find locally.

Good source of downspout is Do-It-Best hardware stores. Go to www.do-it-besthardware.com and use the following info.

I have ordered 5 lengths of 10' sections. Is to be delivered free to our local hardware store and then they contact you to pick it up. Just placed my first order and should arrive in 7-14 days. We'll see.

Man you guys are lucky. I have the worst time finding SPAD stuff around here. I had a guy that was selling me 4x8 sheets of 4mil for $9 but then they quit carrying it and everywhere else is $25-30!!!!!! Thats okay though as I split it most of the time with someone else. And to be honest I don't have the time or Equipment left to build anything else.

I used that brown downspout and it's heavy... ended up building some coro fuselages.

Haven't tried the brown yet, just the white. I'm not sure if they are the same weight or not, but you can "swiss-cheese" the fuse with a good drill and hole saw to bring the weight down.

Thats what I did to a 4" square fence post cover to bring down the weight when I built my Super Spad Stick with the Ryobi 31 on it.

I saw the white fence post or porch post at Menards. I thought they would be kind of heavy. I didn't even think about drilling it out. I may have to do that on my next one with a gas engine. I was considering using a 2x4, just because it would be different. I've only seen one on here done with a 2x4.

I was just talking to a delivery driver from my local lumber yard, and showed him my plane. He said that he has a 4'x8' sheet of coroplast that he is going to bring me. I guess they get it on palets of siding. SWEET!!!

I get my coro for free!! I have a friend who works for a plastic recycler. They have the stuff just lying around. All I have to do is ask. Life is good!

I had the same problem. I hit every hardware store within a 25 mile radius (or so I thought) and came up empty. Then, based on a tip here, I looked for a Do It Best Hardware Store, and found one a few towns over. They had the stuff in stock.

That's one 10 foot section. If you are making combat planes, that's 5 fuselages at $3.40 per. It's a lot better than we ever did by mail order.

mclina, how are the kids flying? are they solo'ing yet? I found canadian pipe at two different places here. and Im in central california. I also have regular square here also. you just never know what the stores are gonna carry
