I don't have a T-rex but I think I'd rather have Thunder Tigers best 450 heli than I would Aligns cheapest heli.

Having owned them both at the same time (see review of each in the magazine section) I kept the mini titan.

To me, just looking at the frame and other parts, the T-Rex seems of higher quality. The T-Rex frame is aluminum and I believe the Titan frame is plastic. Looks like there is more plastic in the Titan then the T-Rex. Is that true? Does that really matter?

Aluminum frames can be bent.

Plastic (and carbon for that matter) are either straight or broken.

The SA and cheaper Trex are comparable. If you want metal then you would be comparing the SE versions and the attendent price increases. My MT is still mostly plastic.

Are you Andrew Griffith who did the reviews on these? I liked them by the way!

How do the included motors and ESC's compare between the two?

Are parts and hop-ups more readily available on either one?

I am not looking for all metal right now, but when comparing these two, the MT looks cheaper, i.e. lots a plastic. But with that aside, if you still think the MT is the better heli, that's all I need to hear. Just want to make the most knowledgeable decision.

Don't be fooled by the plastic frame on the Mini Titan, it is a very stiff frame, why pay more for carbon fibre when the plastic is just as strong?

I have owned the Trex 450 and I also own a MIni Titan, the Mini Titan flies and feels like a bigger Helicopter.

My mini T with an upgraded Sonix rotor head, cost slightly more than the Trex 450sa.

They are both excellent heli's. In my opinion, buy the one where you can easily get parts from your LHS.

Mine doesn't sell Mini Titan parts, but stocks plenty of Align parts. I know you can always order online (I do most of my buying onlline), but when you crash on a Saturday, and want to be back up again later that day or Sunday, it's nice to have a LHS you can get parts from to be back in the air ASAP.

Skarn makes a good point in some ways but I wouldn't let that influence your decision here. Sure it's nice to be able to walk in and get what you are after but if you do a bit of planning you won't ever have that need. Whether you went with trex or the MT, you should stock spares of the common crash parts. You could also get the bare mt kit and keep the whole thing as a spare for 130 bucks or so.

It may be plastic but it takes a beating and flies just as good as any cf framed heli I have seen in this class.
I run the kasama head and jgf500th motor on mine now, I thought it was good before but its even better now.
I didn't have any problems out of the plastic head, worked great too. I changed it for the sake of bling mostly, but find that it flies even better now.

Andy Griffith, yep thats me.

Upgrades are available for both, both reviews were done with the stock components, mine still flys stock however if I were to do anything to it I'd get a Scorpion motor, I flew one a few weeks ago and it had a bit more zip. The Trex is still at the field every weekend as well as a fellow club member purchased it as his first electric heli.

I always try to do just that, but remember the Golden Rule of Heli Crashes (Or maybe it's better called Murphy's law of heli crashes).

The part you need after a crash is ALWAYS the one you don't have in stock!

I just went through this last night. I have all of the "normal" crash backups...but as it turns out, the main shaft bolt that secures the shaft to the head broke! I've never had that happen before....so I had to order a .99 cent part (for 2) with $6 shipping! Of course that made me get a few other things to make it worth it ;)

Thanks for all the advice. I went with the MT. Should be fun if I can figure out how to set everything up. [:D] I haven't set one up from scratch for a long time, and before all the 3D configurations. Back when I had a nitro heli, I would not have believed all the aerobatics that are now possible! I don't even remember guys flying upside down back then! [X(]

I went through the same thing trying to decide between these two great helis. After reading Andy's excellent review and a few others, I went with the mini-Titan too.

I had over a dozen successful flights (hovers, as I'm a noob) before my first crash. Now I'm waiting for some aluminum mixing levers to replace the stock plastic one that failed on takeoff, 4 flights after the first crash repair.

As others have said, the crash kit might be a good idea but I personally didn't have the funds for it at the time and figured I'd just order what I needed when I needed it. Spares are nice to have though. If a few more head parts give me grief, I'll probably upgrade to an aluminum head. Other than that and possibly Gorilla Skids, I plan to keep it all stock.

Have fun with the MT.
