mach1-RCU -> New 123 user...HELP (3/5/2008 10:46:26 PM)

No LiPo experience, please be gentle.

I ordered 2 A123 2cell packs and a Cell-Pro charger. The batteries are setup with balancing connectors to fit the cell-pro.

My question is, I also have a Hyperion EOS 0606i AC/DC charger which will charge A123's. It has a balancing connector included.

Will I be able to use the Hyperion charger/ balancer with this cell-pro balance connector? I'm not sure I understand the apparent balancing connector delima.
It seems there is no standard???

Sorry if this is a stupid question...I'm coming from the nicad darkside.

Thanks,
Warren Hunter

Balancing is for Lipo's. I don't bother with it for A123's

I think hyperion has a different balancing connector then the cell pro. There isn't really any need to balance the A123, but if you want to your going to have to swap out the connector to a Hyperion style.

A123s do benefit from balancing. Not required on every chasrge but every 10 to 20 cycles it gets them back to a matched state. As posted above you can either change the connector or make and adapter ,purchasr an adapter card (PCB) from FMA or just charge on the CellPro every once and a while.
