I haven't tried it, but the 4in1 should work. However, I don't think the Venom Tx will work with the BCX 4in1. You might need a different Tx or a stock BCX Tx.

Some manufacturers go out of their way to make their signal coding such that their equipment works only with their equipment.
Walkera for one.
I've used Blade CX receivers with Futaba and Hitec transmitters.

Paul is right. Venom is relabeled Walkera. Some (but not all) Walkera Tx's / Rx's use the Zhen Hua 5 byte Protocol (or maybe something similar). A while back (at least) some futaba systems used this, but it's pretty much obsolete now.
I don't know if the Ocean Rescue system uses it or not, but don't be surprised if this doesn't work. More likely, be surprised if it does.
See, your question wasn't dumb at all.

Radio Shack's brief foray into IBM computers had the internal port protocols switched from IBM standard, so that only Radio Shack parts like the printers and scanners would work with their machines.
With prices double that of the generic stuff available other places, and really low quality equipment, they didn't last long.

A lot of computer companies used to (and some still do) use proprietary slots and parts. Sometimes it's as simple as having their OEM supplier (let's say IBM mother boards) swap a couple pin assignments for the power supply. That way you have to use things with their brand and pay the price.

Hey, I managed a Shadio Rack store for a few years starting in the very early 70's. It's why I moved to Maine.
No computers back then, but I do remember our 1st 4 function calculator... for $129.95

Here's a 1989 Tandy computer. Monitor and mouse not included at that price.

Everything worked.

I believe that most of the radios used in RTF helis are neg. shift, like Futaba and Hitec (as opposed to pos. shift like JR & Airtronics). As long as the Tx and Rx are the same shift, they should work, except (of course) for some of the Walkera & clone radios that use ZH. For 4 channel it's usually pretty easy to get away with it. For 6 channel CP helis, the eCCPM mixing could (very likely) be off and there's no way to adjust it properly, so you could end up with a lot of neg or pos pitch, and not much of the other. I probably wouldn't try Idle up mode inverted flight with the BCP using the AXE Tx without checking to make sure you're getting full -10 to +10° CP. It could happen, but I would think this would just be lucky.
