bob, flying out in az. and brought my 90 lx with me to put on my toni out here. had it running pretty good. i am starting to get a blubering sound when at full throttle. i know i am running a little fat, smoke stream etc. using a 12x5 apc prop and burning 15 % synth fuel. i am concerned about leaning her out to much. any thoughts. also was clocked at 112 mph yesterday. would like a little more speed. thanks, russ

well, its always good to error on the rich side. But the engine needles fairly well... no need to be afraid of it.

The key is finding peak rpm first. That is your reference point. Pinch the feed line if you can (very briefly). My technique is just to turn the needle and when I hear the rpm increase stop, rapidly back out 1/4 to 1/2 of a turn. Typically find peak rpm briefly, then back down 600-700 rpm from there.

The 12x6 works ok on the Toni setup. If the engine is still a bit new, run it a time or two with less prop. An 11x7 or 11x8 works well and will let the engine unload easily a time or two. Then try the 12x6 again.

bob, back home in ugly, gray, rainy il. never did get the 90 dialed in right. tried it on another plane. could not even get the transition right. did not use the extentions on second plane. i know what this engine is capable of. i had it running well last summer on my toni here. still do not know what went wrong in az. any advise?
