Yes it did. I used a canopy off a 27% edge to get a start on where to cut this cowl. Cut a little, cut a little more, took awhile to get the right fit. I like the design of the plane as it should be a good easy 3D bird. What did you "paint" the inside of the fuse with? Where did you get the graphics? I would like to get the "extra 260" and the cowl flames w/ smoke. I will also be changing out the landing gear, to aluminum though. I will be ordering a DL-50 with the Pitts muffler from DLUSA in a couple of weeks.

I produced the graphics through my sign company, we are currently working on offering custom graphic kits for giant scale planes starting at the 50cc size. If youre interested in getting some of these graphics for your plane send me an email or call contact information is bellow. We are also selling Graphtech Carbon landing and tail gear if you want to go with carbon. I just put some on mine I will post pictures of it in the next day or two.

I painted the fuse with auto primer then speckle painted it you can get it at any hardawre store, I think it looks awesome and helps protect the cheap balsa wood from any fuel.

I agree the quality isnt the greatest and the hardare it comes with is pretty basic, I ended up replacing all of the hardware. I made carbon push rods for the elevator and ailerons. The support for the kit isnt all that great no instructions or reference as to the CG and ignition volts or recomended setup.

I was told the CG is "on" the spar? Tube? Now I don't remember. As for the landing gear, I will probably go aluminum. Not sure I could afford (want to pay for) carbon fiber.
ChargerDude70, who did you get your DL from? How does it run?
I would like to recommend coating the engine area on your plane as it will soak up fuel like a sponge if left untreated. I use a solution of 30 min. epoxy and alcohol. I also will be coating the frame work from the firewall back as far as I can reach to seal the wood and add structural integrity.
The plane is not top shelf but I didn't pay top shelf for it. Rick at Precision Hobby Products has been great to work with.
Please keep posting as you are both further ahead and closer to flying these birds than I am.

I should be maidening mine this weekend, I'll let you know how it fly's? mine so far is weighing in a little heavy about 17.5llbs 18lbs a little heavy but then I put a smoke system in it and have dual 2100 lipo packs in it as well. I could probably get it dow between 16.5 and 17lbs if I took some of that stuff out of there.

I will post completed photos of the plane on my site in the next day or two so you can see how everything looks on it. Let me know if you have any questions.

I purchased the engine from a member on this site...I paid 340.00 shipped. I havent ran it much...just about a 1/2 hour so far. Just breaking it in right now. I had to lower the idle on it substantially. other than that, good so far. I will take your advice on the painting of the engine compartment. As said before...the quality isnt quite there but you get what you pay for. With the cost of the extra 2 servos for the wings and the added cost for better hardware...hind sight says I'd rather gotten a SD or Areoworks. As stated before though, Rick has been very good as far as service or questions being answered. They just need to do a few tweeks(assembly manual...canopy cut out template)? I was told the CG is on the spar, plane right side up. When I went to balance, I had to move my batteries to the front. I have 2 6v 2700 Spektrum Nimh for radio and 1 6v 2700 Nimh for ignition. I also went with alum spinner for a little more weight. My prop is a PT model CF 23X8 for flight. I also am running a Smartfly system that I slaved to my choke servo. When on choke, there is no power to the ignition. Cant hurt to be too safe.

I'm not spending a lot on servoes and I plan on using the supplied hardware. I have heard you can use (1) super high torque servo per aileron in lieu of (2) per. I liked the wing area, the covering scheme and yes the price. I did not know for sure what giant scale ARF I wanted and this one just caught my eye. I bought a used Giant Scale Planes 80" 540 with a Moki 2.1 a few weeks prior and was hooked on giants as soon as I started that engine! It is a pain to haul planes this size to the field, set up, tear down, haul home and put away but man what a blast to fly and buzz the field with!
I cann't wait to hear about your first flights!

I have seen the 100cc looks nice however for a plane this size I don’t think it is built very well, it is also very short for a 35% only 87” long.

I flew the 50cc Extra 260 this last weekend and am surprised how week the airframe is a little bit of a bumpy landing will result in tearing the gear right off and damaging the box. The motor box doesn’t have any thing structural that it is connecting to so it is basically just a box glued to the firewall very similar to an electric airframe. The strength just isn’t there or quality for a well built airframe, so if the 100cc is built anything like the 50cc I would stay away from it unless you spend some time to add more structure and supports. The motor box needs to extend past the firewall and tie into the airframe for the support and strength needed to support the weight of the engine better.

As far as the flying characteristics, the plane flies surprisingly very well and has good wing loading, the power to weight ratio was good with a DL50. When all up and completed my plane sits at 17.5lbs, I could get the weight down if I dumped the smoke system and two TP LiPo packs. This is a good intro gas plane and for the price flies great.

For the money I got what I paid for however I will be quickly replacing this airframe with an AeroWorks, Dietrich or Extreme Flight kit shortly just haven’t decided which one.

If you’re considering the 35% 100cc I would strongly recommend trying to find one to look at before purchasing to make sure this is the right kit for you and that it has the features and quality you are looking for. The price is right on the kits and that’s what attracted me to them; just remember you get what you pay for.

I am glad to hear the plane flew well. Did you damage the plane from this flight ie. tear off the landing gear? Any damage? Did the plane do well vertically with the engine you have on it?
Like you had mentioned, I will be building up the engine box and frame and landing gear area before flying. It does seam a little weak.

The landing gear came right off and tore the bottom off with it. Do yourself a favor and really beef up the underside with some triangle stock, and 1/4" ply and epoxy it will really help. The engine box was damaged as well from the landing being the box doesn’t attach to any thing structural on the airframe.

You can see in the picture how the box came right off the airframe if it were tied into the airframe better it would not have came off. This all happend from one bumpy landing. Aside from this it fly’s great and has good vertical performance the DL 50 has more than enough power.

Also attached is a photo of the smoke system starting up.

Here is what we did to strengthen the airframe. You can see how we brought the supports back into the fuse and did the same with the underside.

Good luck to all that have this plane I am off to order my ExtremeFlight Extra.
