That looks great!
I don't know why "they" said it couldn't be done most of these things are built in the same factory anyway. There are alot of amazing things on this forum like modifications and hybrids and incredible repairs so this doesn't supprise me at all.

All I know is you did a great job.
Huey

looks good but you need to tidy up the wiring before it gets chewed by the main gear....

"guts" covers a lot of territory.

nice work.

you should also check the way your gyro is held to the boom. Is not a good idea to have it tied up like you have it there. According the manual of my gy401, vibration goes to the gyro affecting it's performance and/or life span.

If you use 2 or 3 layers of double sided foam tape, it will hold the gyro in place and stop a lot of vibs. I used a bunch of plastic ties to route my wires. It is amazing how many feet of wires there are on a little helicopter.

Try not to believe then when they say it can not be done. They may not know what they are talking about.

Here is a pic of my MX450SX. She is such a pleasure to fly. I was flying her in 15-20 mph winds. She just sat there and looked pretty. I have heard the MX400 is just as much fun to fly.

Is there no better spot for mounting the gyro? I know it is common for people to mount them up top behind the mainshaft but it really is vulnerable up there. The flybar can whack it where you have it and that may leave you with a broken case on your gyro or it could completely destroy it. I guess if you don't have a better spot for it then that will have to do but if there is room somewhere else, I would move it.

Might be the difference between a ten dollar crash and a 150.00 dollar crash

Nice work! But throw away that terrible gold brushless inrunner motor that comes with the falcon 3d! It works fine for a number of flights, but it just can't cool itself adequately in helicopter applications. In my humble opinion, it is really only suitable for a ducted fan situation. All of a sudden I had one of those things get so hot during flight that I had an immediate power loss, and it even disrupted the BEC function of the ESC. Upon closer inspection, there must have been a short inside the motor because it was all burnt black inside .
