ECO boat plans

I went thru all my MMI and Astec site and European Naviga site and found nothing. I went thru MMI's plans and found translation to be a problem on slot of sites. I can buy from the Florida group but prices, no comment. The European market said they won't ship due to no insurance and postage is another subject. Now without insurance, a gentleman from that region said guarantee of getting a ECO is very small and no insurance can end up in other hands and your out of luck. Stokes, had sites for me but language barrier is a problem but not thru vendors but just the way things crumble. Pictures, very close up and of bottom ECO and setup would help. I can money order to pay for good pictures if they are very clear photos! Thank you!

Here are some pics. As far as I know re setup motor is 500/600 with 7 cells. Waterpickup can be seen to the right of the rudder, a scoop formed from the hull itself. Apparently this model was running on brushless because a silicon motor cooling sleeve was built in. Checked about shipping, and i think it would cost around 25 USD by registered mail....if sellers ask you more than that they're probably taking you for a ride...although at least they do offer to ship.

Thanks a million, those pictures will help alot. I'm retired and saw some ECOS on the youtube or something like that and they really moved out. I think i can make one from those pictures out of 1/32" ply. I see they don't have a true strake and the key is balance from left to right and vice-versa and close to 30% cg, thanks again!

I have a hydro-marine No Step 1 with a 12/3- 05-540 and a pair of lipos in saddle packs 15c-7.4-1500 with not trim tabs and a single turn fin and flies fast enough for me. No paint, just blackened the windows and a few 1/4"wide stick on pen strip, looks good. Prop is a Octura 632 cut down to 630 . The lipos seem to make a difference and saddle packs help with cg. Thanks again for the pictures.

right on about the no-paint policy. Decals only from now on if i can help it....

oh and you might find something interesting on this page - most of the big German manufacturers can be found here: http://www.rc-raceboats.de/linksundmehr.shtml

I'm rethinking my experiment with the ECO - think i'll stick to the subsurface drive. From what i gathered from other posts we must keep to smaller pitch props. But motor choice? I've got a graupner 14.4v 600BB which i was thinking of dropping in the zippy... although obviously i won't be able to race it.

There's an interesting ECO hull on the Graupner page called the Manta...weird boat - but fast!!!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=dIKu53onU0A

The more i look at subdrive, i would stay subdrive. Your right about small props for sub. I tried c -fiber on surface drive and caught a few weeds, very small weeds and weeds raise cane and did a number on the edges, no more cf for me. I don't know what you use for props there but surface drive, the 632 cut down to 631 or 630 work great. Motor has to have very good torque for subdrive and i have a prop sheet in front of me from Octura and for a 05-540 on sub- 427 metal prop and next is 430,alittle to big unless you taper back the blades so you have a gentle curve which will increase rpm. If you can find a good torque 7 cell motor in the 05 arena and set timing at neutral, food for thought. You know, the weight and lenght of eco dictates motor size. I think your part of the world has alot better choices of motors in both brush and bl. Well , i've got to start cutting out my El Lobo II and lenght is 18 7/8" long and is 6 1/4" wide and is shallow depth.

Stokes- I'm glad you decided to keep the sub drive, think that's a good move.

retaobcr- I'm very surprised that there isnt much info out there on this boat......especially in english. I did find this through a mess of links that I dont know what translate to.

This is a list of some eco manufacturers, I'm sure these will be much easier to search for.

gee whiz had no idea there were so many manufacturers on the continent (Europe ;-)). Thanks quicksilver. Retoabcr you can find a much better choice of eco-props with a metric M4 (4mm) stub, glass-filled, carbon, plastic, etc etc. I think a good ball-bearing seal on the stuffing tube would be a good idea too (i only say this because the second hand eco i bought had one installed). Am i right in saying that eco race props are usually the melchert type?
