But I suppose I'd have to bleach them before trying to dye black tires ?

Any ideas anyone ?

you cant dye the tires, but the rims you can. best to start with white rims.

You will have to bake the tires off the rims to dye the rims otherwise the water will ruin the foams and may warp the rims.

Chrome rims dye just as cool and keep the chrome, but with color. Some color's are better than others...

I have boiled 8 wheels, to recycle the tires, and the foam inserts are OK. (not ruined at all)

yea but some chrome turns milky if you dye it and doesnt turn out bery good. I have seen solored chrome rims that did turn out good and they looked nice. I personally dont like flashy rims though.

thats true
but you get them out to dry

if left in a glued tire/rim set
first, they'd never dry
and you don't know what the chemicals in the dye would do to the foam

best to get the tire off the rims before dying the rims

and no, you cannot dye or bleach the tires
well, you can...
but they'll still be black when you're done.

^The foam will dry if you vent your tires. The vents in the rims only add water never let it out. Vent your tires for MAX foam life. The centrifugal force drive's the water out instead of just in like a rim vent..

As to chrome rims milking out.......... Don't boil them! There no reason to go ove 150F with rit dye. I have dyed all my sets at 150F I cylcle the heat UP to 150 then off let cool to around 130 then back up again. You dont have to stay and watch them you can walk away this way.Plus they will never warp or twist. Good rims wont anyways but still...... I go 2HRs Ive never Had problems... Good strong colors still, and no milky chrome.<----- Not to refute just a tip for all..

all my wheels are vented
it's a very tiny hole
all of the water will never be forced out
and there's not enough air movement to ever (well, i suppose after months, maybe) dry completely
even with extra holes in the tires

and why would i want to put holes in my tires
that would just let them get wetter every time i drove in anything damp or wet
not for me thanks

but that's the beauty of rc
you can do what you want to yours

To each there own, on venting your tires this is a trick that has been picked up from the pros. The only way for more moisture to get in your tires this way, would be to leave it in standing water, Because when you are driving the centrifugal force will not let the moisture in. My .02
