As far as the Sportwerks .21 motor, NO, they have not gotten back to me. Calling is a waste of my time. I tried that and sat there or it was even busy...... Go figure... When you send them an E-mail, you get the standard canned response telling you it can take up to 5 days to get a response.... I send them an E-mail directely and I used thier support website. My next thing to try is a fax. After than, I start e-mailing higher ups in the company. I will get something out of this...I hope!

The problem I am also having is with my new Novarossi motor that I got to replace the bad sportwerks unit. It turns much easier after doing some work in, but it too has a snag (no where as bad as the Sportwerks motor). The snag is not too bad, but my OFNA starter box will not sturn the motor. The flywheel just grinds against starter wheel.... I am beginning to think that roto starts are better! At least you can turn those motors..... I will continue working in my new ROSSI motor by hand and hope it gets to a point that the starter box will actually turn the motor. I have been using heat, wd40, and regular after run oil. Like I said, it turns much easier than my DOA Sportwerks motor, but it is still so tight that my starter box will not spin the fly wheel (and not grind down my starter wheel).

Only way I can get my rossi to start up is to losen the plug then tighten it back down when it fires up

alright dont take any offense to this but is it lined up correctly? or Is the rubber wheel turning the correct way? If not I think you can just switch polarity to get it going the desired way.

i had that problem before lol starter box wheel was rotating the wrong way. everytime i put my buggy on the box the motor would get stuck. when i realized what i was doing, i reversed polarity and now it works flawlessly. and ive had this box for almost 7 years!

No offense taken. The starter box does indeed turn the right way, and the fly wheel and the starter wheel were lined up (I actually had the motor out and put the motor on the start wheel by hand). When I had the head off the motor the starter box turned the motor with ease. I put the head on (with the proper shim), and tightened everything back on. Then the motor would not turn using the starter box. That was my question before as to how tight the head and heat sink should be. I did many heat treatments, lots of wd40, and elbow grease and now, the starter box does turn the new Novarossi motor. I put it all back in the car, and tested it again. The starter box does start the motor. So, I think I am good to go with the Novarossi motor. The sportwerks .21 motor is still DOA. I will be communicating with the president of Horrizon Hobbies next week. Waiting over 6 days to even get a response is not acceptable in my mind. I will let you know how that goes. Thanks to all!
