Is it just me or have things been going downhill on RC Universe?? My last 3 deals went as follows.....********* took my $ for a receiver and batteries and never sent the stuff...I complained and never heard anything! The last two deals, my offers were accepted then the sellers sold to someone else! Prettyt rotten. Anyone else having similar experiences?

I am sorry you are having problems with other RCU members.

I review each and every complaint filed and there has been no change in the frequency of complaints filed which is to say they are still the exception and not very common. Please understand the experience you describe is why RCUniverse recommends the use of Escrow.com to handle all transactions with private parties over the internet. Also, when a seller accepts your offer, then sells to someone else, you should be sure to post an appropriate rating to their account so other members are aware of your experience with that seller.

Please note your post has been edited to remove the name of the other member. The forums are not for posting feedback or warnings about other members.

I have had two different advertisers on RCU rip me off and will just buy from Canadian suppliers or Tower.

I recently purchased 20 rolls of Ultracote only to receive 10 rolls which were intended for someone else. Understandable that the seller made a mistake but the grind comes when the other guy, "John" who ends up with my Ultracote isn't going to return it. Mind you he received 20 rolls instead of 10, (clue #1 that he has the wrong order) but they are tagged with numbers indicating what he should have received groups 7 and 8 not 1,2,3 and 4. Also, they aren't the correct colors. What does this fine upstanding modeler do, he responds that he has already started using the ultracote and thus can't return it.

The seller offers to refund the difference and have me keep the Ultracote which I've already told him I don't want. Or return it to him with him refunding my money and the shipping costs once he has the product back in his hands. Seems to me that I paid him immediately and waited for my product but I now have to wait for my money.

I also recently purchased a motor which was advertised as a 46Fx only to prove to be a 46LA. I was chastised by the seller for not looking at the picture, which showed only one side and it wasn't the numbered side. I was thinking maybe a 46FXI but shouldn't have been surprised to have received the 46LA. After requesting my money back four times I then filed a complaint. Seller responded with "You're the reason people don't like to sell on RCU". I fail to see where his inability to read is my fault. I gave up on trying to get my $40 back and chalked it up to experience.

I've made two offers on motors and receivers only to have the sellers never send invoices.

Other than these few incidents everything has gone pretty smooth.

I am sorry you are having problems with other RCU members.

As you stated, it is easy for problems like this to occur anywhere on the internet so leaving RCU and going somewhere else will not solve the problem. Trades are inherently risky. I have stated this many times. If you do not know the person, I would not recommend trading with them. Instead, only deal with money. Use Escrow.com to handle the transactions (they will not broker a trade). If the other party does not want to use Escrow.com yet they still seem trustworthy, use Paypal. If you must trade, do it in person.

In a despute right now called the member and everything P.O.S said it would ship the next day . Its going on a month now. This is sad way for thing to go on a good site like this . I'll still use the forums but you can trash the market place if things are going down hill like this

Problems in the marketplace, while very unfortunate, are actually quite rare considering the huge number of items posted and transactions completed each and every day. Have you received a response from the seller with an explanation as to why he has not yet shipped your item?

Talked to member one time on his cell phone said he would ship item next day. Its been 4 days no tracking number and now that my number comes up on cell phone well you know the rest. I waited over a week for tracking info before I tried to contact. Deal was made on May 4 paid for item right then . Its now may 23 and nothing . Member has never tried to contact me making me do all the work. I just needed to vent a little sorry. I really like this site and have had no other problems . Wish there was a good way to weed out deadbeats but they seem to be at least one in every site you go to these days. At this point getting my money back would do I'll find something else from seller with good rating with high number of buyers.

Hate to say it but having a problem with a trade as well. Communication was excellent between the other guy prior to the trade. Sent my truck to him and he liked it. Going on 2 weeks now with no response and my truck from him has not been shipped and I can not get a hold of him. Very disappointing since this was my first trade on such a great site. Now I may be out a $500 truck......

Hope this stops I wouldn't dream of biding on a item if seller has no ratings now. That suck for the new guys who may be honest sellers but I'm not a betting man . Hope it works out for you !

Well its official. I have been had. Found the truck I traded for up for sale by another member. Contacted him and asked some questions. Sent him some photos and he confirmed that the truck he has is in fact my truck. Bad thing is, is that he got it from someone else, not the guy I dealt with. He has taken the truck off of the market and is hoping that I can get this issue resolved. Not holding my breath as the guy I dealt with will not answer me emails or answer his phone. Looks like my first deal on RCU was a bad one. Out a $500 truck. Tought me a lesson I guess. Too bad there are still people out there that are dishonest in such a great industry.

I don't belive it but paypal got the guy to ship my item . Wow that was a close call. All I can tell you Is to ask if they have buyer protection if not you can roll the dice. I got lucky.
