I think I saw an article on the SB5 in an RC Action magazine. It looks really nice and I guess I'll wait for it to be released. I rather do it right the first time without dumping a whole bunch of cash into something I might out grow. I didn't even notice you were in Berkley what days do you run? I probably can't make it out this weekend cause of work but I am down to meet up. I don't know about driving your bike though I wouldn't want to break anything lol maybe I'll bring a street car out or something.

I would like to come out and try my hand at racing with you guys. I recently built a Kyosho NSR 500 and its a blast to drive. I also picked up a GPV-1 and it is more challanging but I am learning fast! (counter steer in the turns!) My NSR has a brushless set up and the GPV-1 is stock except fora 2.4ghz RX. I live in Fremont, CA and Santa Clara is not to far for me. PM me next time you guys are going out to Santa Clara.

Is there a club or web site for you guys? Thanks.

Gosh we haven't run in Santa Clara since last year. The RAMS Club operates the races in Santa Clara at Mission College. We used to join the them on their 5th scale days. And it was a brutally long day for how much track time we got.
But the closest thing to a club is RCMCC Radio Conrol Motorcycle Club of California, Located in San Jose, CA.
As you probably noticed RC-Bike racing is a nearly nonexistent thing. That is why we started our own thing in NAPA.
We are talking to the club about bringing our equipment down for race soon, but we will have to see what they want to do.
I will keep posting here any dates we plan.

What recommendation do you have for a beginner? As soon as I get a bike I'll be glad to meet up with you guys to run.

Get the Kyosho Hang on Racer NSR 500 Kit I own it and the Venom GPV-1 and I would say the Kyosho is easier to drive. The GPV-1 is a good bike but takes time to learn to drive it plus you need to go over all the screws and readjust the steering to get the bike up and running and even then it is not as stable as the Kyosho. I like them both and if I had to choose I would pick the Kyosho.

Where did you buy the Kyosho from? I've been looking but each shop I find online is out of stock.

Ok cool. Usually when you shop direct they charge full MSRP so I didn't bother looking there, but they aren't marked up too high. What spare parts or hop ups should I get? Thanks for the link

Will do just pulled the trigger on the kit.

I'm trying to locate the manual online to get the bearing sizes I need but Kyosho's site doesn't have the link. They don't even list the option parts either.

Once the bike is complete I'll be game to meet up with anyone in the area for some runs. I can't wait for everything to arrive!

Nice! I need to start scouting locations though I drive cars exclusively right now and even with touring cars most paved roads will do. Not sure about bikes though...

Sadly not that I am aware of but I am game for some parking lot racing. Hit me up with a PM when you get it built! I know a sweet spot that is rock free and super smooth to run on.

Hey give me a holler when you guys decide to get together,
I'm always interested in running.
And I think it would be a good opportunity for tuning the much neglected 1/8 scale bike
