I'm looking for any information on the Red Green Amber Recognition lights on the bottom right wing, or Bottom center of Fuselage,

On Most if not all American Fighters During W.W.II,

I Mis Named these in another post as Formation Lights , Sorry about that,

I was told Recently that they May have been used for Returning to, or Departing Base's Before or After Daylight

To prevent Friendly Fire on them,

Does Anyone Have anymore info as to exactly what they were used for ?

all Help & Info is GREATLY APPRECIATED ! Thank's 51-D GUY.
