Hi,
i know this subject has been dealt with many times and more but i can't find what i think i need...
i stripped my spur gear on Sunday, got a new one tonight... i removed the engine, remove the old spur gear, and am now trying to install the new one exactly how the manual says...

it looks like the washer between the spur gear and the spring is not going all the way down on the shaft so that there is a gap between the spur gear and the washer (the washer does not touch the spur gear)... the spur gear moves back and forth 2-3mm if not more!!!

i know it won't work if i try to run it like this! what's the trick here??? i look at the manual i don't think i'm doing anything wrong... i've got all the parts...

if i tighten the nurt all the way down like crazy, will the washer slide on the shaft? i don't believe so...

any help would be great!

thanks!

i am new to nitro r/c and i have changed 2 spurs in 3 mo. from the way you describe it i think u should look at ur washer again and if it is like mine then the inside is hexagonal. you might need to useneedlenose pliers to get it on but it should fit right on there. oh yea also there is a silver colored piece that fits real snug into the spur gear itself. make sure it is all the way in.

just curious, y remove the engine. when i did it i just removed the rollbar and the center set of gears which the spur bolts onto. hope this helps.

thanks for the answer... the washer goes all the way down the hexagonal part of the shaft... but still, between this point (end of hexagonal part) and where the spur gear sitis, i still have 2-3mm of gap... i can't see how the washer could go any further...

it looks like the spur gear goes too far on the shaft... and by the way, i opened the center set of gears, it's way easier thanks!

which spur gear setup do you have?
you may have the wrong style for your truck.
the x4.1 or the x 4.6/s25
x4.1 dual slipper pad

x4.6/s25
single slipper pad

thanks for the sketches...
i do have the right setup (x4.6 RTR) all the parts are the exact same as the skecth(single slipper pad), it's just that the spur gear seems to float on the shaft!!! no good isn't it? no matter how tight i can tighten the nut, the washer will never go past the hexagonal part of the shaft and thus never apply any pressure on the spur gear...
i really don't trust that assembly until i get a "tighter" solution

thanks for your help though!

no i've got the spring! when you look at the sketch, the washer goes between the spring and the spur gear, right? i could probably put it the other way (spring first and then washer) and force the spring onto the shaft, but it doesn't seem right!

i'll go to my lhs at lunch break and see what they have to say!

thanks for the suggestion!

pat, did you install a new slipper pad? make sure you install only 1, the washer will only fit all the way on the shaft one way, as it has 2 flat spots on the washer. make sure as per the drawing above that the pin in in the shaft also. if you cant figure it out pm me.

i have to learn to pay more attention of what i'm taking out of the truck... if i would have kept the old spur gear safely instead of throwing it in my real truck to go to my lhs (and losing it somewhere in my truck) i would have noticed...

it took me 3 days instead of 3 min to change a spur gear... isn't that what you call a real newb !!!

but btw, i like tearing my truck apart and look at it, it's kinda fun!

i'm new to ebay too... the only parts i bought a week ago are not here yet (stock shocks)

but yeah, good luck!!! i don't think i'd spend $ 300-400 (whatever the revo is) on ebay yet... but i know many guys who do without trouble so go ahead and get yourself one more truck!!!

Have fun!
