I used to ride dirt about 6 years ago, Had a Specialized FatBoy 415 ( not a dirt jumper either ) But good to learn on, I was getting really good after a couple years and was being looked at by a few sponsors..I was out at a construction site where the had a nice gravel road that you could get some narley air...Well, Did a few practice runs..figured I could do it... Got some speed up..about 10 feet from the jump..SNAP! chain breaks... Instant stop..ended up doing a front flip with my leg caught in the cross bars....buggerd up my knee and pretty much my whole right leg was munched...tons of nerve damage..still can't feel from my knee down ( all numb )...But the main cause of it was lack of funds to keep the bike in prime running condition and no shin&knee guards! WEAR YOUR GEAR! even a full face mask bro

Dokioto -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/12/2008 6:23:11 AM)

I do it some in the summer. Not a lot of places to go up here this time of year.
I race BMX and behind the track we have a nice set of jumps that I can't wait to hit.

I run and race a the very cheap 06' DK Rage. I have to rid dirt as I plain suck at street[:)]

ttoks -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/12/2008 7:31:37 AM)

do a little downhill, which has some fairly gnarly drop off around here, and some jumping, nothing to big, biggest i've done was a 24 foot gap, also race motocross so i guess that counts as dirt jumping..??

greasysnowball -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/12/2008 6:30:32 PM)

i ride street. i tried dirt and i ate it way too much. lol. its too painful. and i have way to many scars from dirt

That probably the #1 thing I want to do as of now. I just don't have the cash for a bike and gear.[&o]
So for now its just BMX...

annie_himself -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/12/2008 9:40:59 PM)

It's called trails isn't it?

Anyway, I'm too afraid to heights for that. I'm going to start riding street ASAP with a WTP Trust.

JB COMP -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/12/2008 9:42:45 PM)

I used to.

Nathan9492 -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/13/2008 1:40:25 AM)

i use to jump, then i rip a certain part of my body open (use ur imagination) from going down a hill and hit a huge tabletop, was painful.[:@]

Dokioto -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/13/2008 2:38:13 AM)

It's not the safest thing in the world.. I broke my collar bone once and that was no fun.

i want the wtp 4 seasons

and i jump, but i dont like how the bike feels under me.( sorry guys if you dont understand its a moto kid thing.) it feels like that there is nothing under me to hold one to. but i still do huge gaps. i like to free ride more then just jump

Art91 -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/13/2008 4:46:39 AM)

I did my fair share of bike jumping back like six years ago. I'm just not really into that stuff anymore, plus I would probably would bust my *** trying it again.

If you mean dirt jumping on 400cc's of pure 4stroke power; then Yes.
On a bicycle? Not quite. [:D]

I am going to start building a bmx bike though... so take that all you brainwashed into completes!

you can get a good condition early 00 125 or 250 two stroke and gear for around 2.5K easily in the U.S, not that much really.

SixShooterInd -> RE: Anyone Dirt jump? (3/13/2008 8:57:09 AM)

I used to ride dirt a few years back, was pretty good if i may say... I had a few sponsors, nothing big, GT (Before they go bought out), and bellflower bicycles, also used to ride street i loved it. i had a few bad accidents, but still to this day i get my bike out and ride alittle, i still got it, 360's, X-ups, tabble-tops, no handers, supermans, sure you can fill in all the others like no footers and stuff like that. Accually after i left my sponsors i went alittle more street, and stoped riding GT, but i will say GT could not make a bike that i couldnt break, used to go through 6-7 bikes a year. Oh yah and my biggest "local" claim to fame was a ramp to feeble gring on a Large storage bin, about one story off the ground to flat landing.... yup i broke a bike doing it. Keep it man its fun and keeps you out of trouble, and if the cops come dont run it makes it worse trust me....

Some completes are nice but, I'd take a nice built custom any day. Got any parts in mind as of now?

Ya, I should start looking into something like that.. I have been looking at all these new bikes (3,000-4,000 dollars) and with my budget it ain't looking possible. Lately I have been buying a lot more R/C goods as well... That seems to hurt my "fun" bucks a lot.
