I have the equipment... I just need a plane!

I have a KD A20-15m motor with an 10x5 APCe prop. Using the specs from www.**** I should get about 1 kg of thrust (I have a 25A esc, so any motor stronger which doesn't use more than 25A I wouldn't mind buying)
The flying field I go to has very rough earth everywhere, no smooth runways anywhere (guess we can't have everything huh?

)
so I'll need a 3D capable plane, with a very strong undercarriage (not much of a builder... just a flier).
I personally don't really understand how to PROPERLY reinforce a plane :P

These are mutually exclusive.

Good 3D planes are built lightly to optimize their 3D performance and lower their wing loading.

This is one reason that they are not good for novice pilots nor for rough field takeoffs from the ground.

You may want to consider a foamy...

I was hoping to buy from nitromodels.com because their balsa/plywood models cost as much as foamies :P

If this is the case (that good 3D planes are built light), how could I reinforce the undercarriage??

any other models (which are aerobatic) that you insist I take a good look at?

The gear is going to be fairly fragile on most 3D planes.

That is why I suggested that you look at a foamy, or something without landing gear.

While you can attempt to re-inforce the undercarriage, the problem is that the surrounding frame will also be lightly built.

You may want to also look at potentially hand launching your planes, and landing on the grass w/o gear.

This will require preping the fuse to take the abuse.

too bad nitroplanes doesn't have a good selection of foamies.

I guess I'll just stick to foamies for now

This looks quite viable given your combo...

But in your shoes I would opt to make the gear PURPOSELY pull out easily in case it catches in the grass. Maybe add some heavy packing tape to the forward bottom areas or anywhere the fuse may contact the ground, and add wing tip guards... something I highly recommend as a cheap safeguard...

This would act to prevent damage to your plane.

In other words set things up to that the gear rips out w/o damaging anything.

This would permit you to attempt harrier landings, and hand launches, or regular landings on hard packed dirt or asphalt.

Also install oversized foam wheels. The bigger the better.

( Note: once you are at the 2.75" size and larger you basically have a plane that can handle short grass... )

I have a Typhoon 3D ver 2. which I do this with, particularly with a breeze...

I stall it very low over the grass in a harrier, nose into the wind... the guys at my field call it "a precision landing".

the shipping to Australia costs as much as the plane

if a balsa plane is a bit too much for me to handle, I'll just stick to an Airfoilz full fuse foamie or something similar

hmmm, LHS prices are king through the roof.... but I've never really taken a good look at whats on sale, on the prices :P

usually when my LHS has planes which don't really appeal to me.

what company makes the mini kat??
