Here is a story I have hear and i don't know if its true, so bare with me. You can give your nitro car a "NOS injection system". you take a standard lighter, attach a piece of fuel tubing to it and splice you fuel line in a "T" near the carb. you attach the lighter so your throttle servo hits the button at full full throttle and it injects butane from the lighter into the fuel line giving you a "NOS" style injection. Anyone else ever hear of this or seen it?

Honestly I don't really think it would work, butane realy needs a flame or spark to light and the compression in the engine isn't high enough to light it off and if it did light off from the glow ignitor it would probably explode, LMAO. WOW, that might be worth seeing maybe on the fourth of july or something, lol.

i may have to try this out, i wonder though what would stop it from getting pushed into the fuel tank thru that T in the line, you would need some sort of check valve on the line somewhere to prevent overflow of butane into the fuel tank. I think the pressure from the lighter fluid would be more than the pressure from the fuel tank.

Ya that's kind of what I was thinking. I think it would more or less lean out your engine and then explode, LOL. head and engine parts every where.

I don't think it would work by feeding the butane into the fuel line with a T as mentioned. I think you would be better off tapping it in at the base of the air filter. Just to test it out there is no need to build a bracket for the servo, just let the car idle on a box and work the lighter with your hand, see if it raises the RPM at all. If it does then you may be on to something.

I personaly dont think it would give anymore performance....but the way I think u would wanna rig it is run a small line from the lighter to like in the rubber that holds ur air cleaner on...wouldnt wanna run it into the fuel line..rig it to open during wot and the engine would suck it in

I think thats what i heard with injecting it in the air filter base. sorry, i just thought it sounded cool. love the discussion though. do they sell bullet proof "Mythbuster" glass on ebay? lol

A basic dry nitrous kit for a car is plumbed into the intake, so I think your best bet is feeding it into the base of the air filter as mentioned. It would save a lot of hassle with the fuel line T, one way valve ect.

Nitrous system, not NOS system. Nitrous is the fuel, NOS is a company.

ya that is what i was thinking of doing but insted of spliceing the fuel toobing put in through the boot of the intake... no through the fuel line... and if it does work if you run out of gas i think you could run it off of that...

bob: so, What do you run?
me: ooh a Liquid fuel cell Butain BOMB!
bob: Waho
Me: It is like NOS but better!.
Bob: so how much power does it make.
Me: 2 stripped DIFS how does that sound...

that conversation was not real...

Affordable,,,Firebird ,,,
I think you guys have the right idea for the Plumbing. Might run lean though. and too much pressure might act to blow fuel Right Through the engine before combustion. Also, the Butane comes out COLD. Might lower combustion Temps. But HEY! Ya never Know till ya Try!

Wouldn't you get 2 explosions in the cylinder, I mean wouldn't the nitro need to explode to ignite the butane? if so I see major engine failure. Not only that on the down stroke wouldn't try to push the butane backwards.

If it did work I'd be buying the refill bottles and using that instead lol.
