Ok, I just ordered the Exceed Forza with the .18 engine. I never realized how many choices are out there for the fuel. What is the recommended blend for this engine. I wont be doing any proffesional racing or anything, just backyard fun. Thanks

dude, do not buy traxxas top fuel for anything exept a traxxas. the oil content in it screws up the one way bearings in the motor. anything exept traxxas top fuel. get a fuel with 20% nitro and around 12% oil in it just to list a few good brands, odonalds, bryons, sidewinder is ok, go with somthin like that

and dont buy odonell there mixtures change batch to batch... and they are difrent collers too... get Team Losi Nitrotane... it is the best of the best it is a littel more but produces less smoke smells better that the traxxas and runs cooler and gets more power...

i have run Traxxas top fuel (Vx-18 engine externial one way bering), nitrotane, and now i am runing Hpi power fuel... i like the nitrotane and i will be going back to it!

p.s. DO NOT GET THE HPI POWERFUEL!!! it stinks and you can taste it in the back of your throat and it puts out a lot of smoke!!!

I get conflicting opinions on whether or not Traxxas top fuel is good to run thru my VX .16. The guy at the LHS says it doesn't have any castor oil in it, its all synthetic. He says its not a bad fuel though and one way bearings go out ocassionally anyways. The can itself says "castor oil and sythetic oils" My car seems to perform fine on it, it smokes good at full throttle, it doesnt stink and my motor runs cool.

Andy, what does Exceed reccommend running in the Vertex engines? 20% nitro but what brands?

20% odonnels, or byrons. Both are very good. The ignitors in the traxxas fuel can cause the one way bearing to lock up. Traxxas fuel is designed for traxxas motors.

What is the shelf life on an unopened Gallon jug of fuel? There is a bottle of Odonnels 20% at the local hobby shop, but the barcode label price tag at the shop says 11-07 on it. He's only got 2 Gallons, both with the same 11-07 on em. They look like they have been there since November. Not sure if its worth buying, but thats all I can get locally besides Top Fuel

Hey Everyone, I was wondering if anyone has tried the Trinity fuel? I am a newbie and will be breaking my Razor in soon!!! I feel like I get more and more confused with the more research I keep doing on these nitro's and break-in, maintenance, upgrades and everything else. I have had this car for about three weeks and have pretty much just been staring at it and holding it!!LOL Everytime I feel confident about going and breaking the engine in, I read something new with another way of doing things and just decide to keep researhing instead!!!!!!!

Back to the original question though, has anybody used the Trinity Fuel as a staple gas or to break an engine in, It is 25% nitro. I have the Razor by Exceed which has a .21 in It and instructions reccommend 20% nitro. I have been making some trips to the local Hobby shop and asking questions, researching and trying to listen to some of the folk's conversations there. They employees recommended Odonnels/20% nitro or the Trinity/25% nitro and said that the Trinity would probably be a better choice but again It is 25% nitro and the recommended for the Razor is 20% nitro. You guy's can probably smell newbie all over me with a question like this!LOL

One other thing, I have been reading this site which is awesome and want to keep in-line with the way the forums run, so If I have questions should I ask them in an old or active thread or start a new one!!!!!!!! I have also been reading magazines (not all that helpful), doing alot of online reading(very helpful) and like I said, talking with the LHS(but a little skeptical of their advice due to their eagerness to sell me something)!!!!!!! I was also thinking of ordering THE RC Bible from barnes n nobles, any thoughts on this book?

Thanks to all who take the time to help us Newbie's
Jason
