Hi guys,
I have a friend who has an AXE CP, ( no, really it's not mine) anyhow, he's cheap, I have a himaxx 2015 which has a 10 tooth pinnion (.4mm pitch). The motor is rated for 110w at about 5-12 amps. It has the 2.5 mounting screws and the .625 bolt pattern, has anyone tried to use one of these in their axe cp's? the reason is simple, he's cheap and I need to get him to run seperate's because I already replaced his 3-1 for practically nothing. plus, I gave him 2 each- 2000mah 10c 11.1 lipo's to have, he's afraid the lipos burned his 3-1 but it was because the glitching and he put his hand on the rotor to stop it from turning, in turn, it fried the 3-1 and receiver, I replaced bolth and asked for only 50 bucks. The Himaxx is the 4100 kv 2015 from a 6.6/1 gearbox assembley. It's doing nothing but collecting dust so I figured that it would eliminate the risk of him burning another 3-1 because it glitched, I have a spare gyro and esc I could give him for the tail motor as well, but that will make him think it's a total peice of junk and he'll throw it out. So far I gave him the reciever, 3-1, spare blades, 3 hs-55's(new) 2 lipos and now a possible seperates package if it'll work.
BTW- I hooked my medusa research power analyzer to my walkera 36 with a align bl430/4100 motor running an 11th pinnion, at full throttle it draws 19 amps and only 145 watts. at hover it draws about 90 watts and only 8-9 amps. so I figure the AXE has to be less than 1/2 the amp draw on a 370 size motor, compairing it to the align 430 motor.
Anybody actually get some stock amp/watt readings? Brushless or brush?
Thanks Ray.

Pay it forward, that's all that comes to mind when I think of this heli ordeal. I've known him since high school and we grew up together, riding dirt bikes and learning to fly r/c planes and yes even getting arrested for being stupid. So I treat him like my brother, just trying to help him out when he needs it. I chacked maxx-products and the pinnion I can't find is the 10th pinnion...
I guess I'll order a new one from them and give the whole brushless setup to him to try out. If it works, great, if not, it didn't cost him anything and he'll still have a heli to fly. But tonight I gave him specific instructions on how to do the testing for the motor.
I would just normally give him my fluke clamp meter to measure the amperage but I need that for work, so I bought a medusa research power analyser, so he can measure his watt, amp, volt,ah & wh readings of the heli( with the tail motor plugged in and disconnected) to see the total draw of the heli and just the main motor and servos. I have a jeti JES110 esc he can have, a e-flite 5 amp esc and a ikarus micro-profi gyro to play with, along with the Himaxx 2015bl motor and esc for it. At the least it should lessen the possibility that the 3-1 will smoke itself again if I remove all the main motor current from it or his choice of using all seperate componets. Whatever he decides to use is fine, if he decides to use only some of the parts then good, I'll get the remaining componets back, either way, he won't be discouraged by the initial cost to "work the bugs" out of a heli.
Soo, anyone try a Hi Maxx 2015 in a AXE CP?

Can't say I have one, but if I had to guess, it should work. You probably have the 4100 Kv motor, which will require a small pinion. Be sure and get a heat sink for the motor to keep it cool. According to Darkhorse's motor calculator, you should use an 11 tooth pinion. (maybe 12)

Hope your friend realizes how good a friend he has...

I have the 10 tooth, 12 and 14 tooth pinnion for the motor, yes it's 4100 kv. I'm just looking for a cheap way for him to fly seperates in it. To me they're just collecting dust, to him it's a very usable setup. I gave him the power analyser and a tach, I told him to tach the stock setup at 3 to 5 points on the stick and also record the amps too. Is the pitch .4mm or is the pitch .5mm spread?
