I just installed G4 on my new gateway. The screen seems to be jumping from frame to frame. Is it possible I don't have the right graphics?

My PC is brand new Gateway. The graphics are:

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
Up to 224 MB Shared Video Memory

I am running Windows Vista and duo core processor. How do I get into the control panel to jack up the video memory? Does this thing absolutely need dedicated memory for the video?

Shared video controllers = "ca ca".

You cannot do anything about this if you have a laptop, but most Desktop systems can be upgraded to better video adapters.

Re: "When will G4 be fixed".

Well a "fix" is not needed as the add-ons were really designed for G2 and were not to be supported in G4...

However KE is working on a patch to enable backward compatibility. It's in testing now.

So the answer is SOON.

What does "ca ca" mean?

I have a desktop, so I might be able to expand?

Heh, a term for "shee - it".

Since you have a Desktop you can upgrade easily.

There are some rather amazing cards to be had for decent prices.

I spent well over $550.00 for an Nvidia 8800 Ultra. Now you can buy just about the same thing for $130.00 with 256mb of dedicated video RAM...

You'll do better with Nvidia cards.

My specs are:

Add-in Card Slots:
One PCI Express ×16 (graphics interface)
One PCI Express ×1
Two PCI conventional

So that sounds like the ATI Radeon card would work in the PCI Express x 16 slot

Apparently, this nvidia would too

For the price of the 8500 there, you can pick up a much better one at newegg.com

Click me!

However with the nvidia card, the second number e.g. x500 versus x600 determines the chipset used.

The higher the better.

But I would strongly suggest you spend a little more and get say an 8800GT

8800GT

Which works out to only $159.00 with rebate for great performance and DX10 compatibility.

I agree, I have the 8800GTS with 640 megs and its unbeatable. I also run Microsofts Flightsim X Deluxe, which is known to be the worst hardware hog on the market and it runs it very smooth.

I ordered the card a few days ago and finally installed it today. My G4 works now without the skipping. The card was really easy to install also. Thanks for all of your help.
