Chopping the rudder: Use the template to mark the rudder, use a sharp/ fine small saw and saw one site carefully.
Measure the first side, mark the other side and again chop that side. Sand all light. Glue the balsa for the hinges together with a good wood glue f.a. Titebond II.
Glue the cnc cut balsa for the hinges in the fuse but sand the fuse first with 80 gritt and remove all dust.
Use UHU plus to glue the balsa in the fuse.
I have made a template for the balsa former for the hinges. First I will scan the template and make a CAD drawing for the CNC cutting file.

I have made a little former to close the gap of the fuselage at the top of the rudder.

After above former I have made a former for the hinges but after making it I thought it is better to glue in the stab first.
So I think I have to change it or chop it in two parts. The formers are made of 3 pieces hard balsa. The place for the hinges and the formers are CNC cut. So the next job wil be glueing the stabs together with 5min. ZAP epoxy and cutting out the fuse for the stab with the Dremel. But first I will cut some foam for a set of wings and stabs for a Strega kit. After cutting the stuff will be sheeted with 0,4mm thin plywood.

The first job now is the use the Dremel and cut out the fuse for space for the stab. First I will sand the fuse at the place from the stab to see the contour to remove.

Hello Look,
I realize that this is a little premature, but do you have an idea of how fast you anticipate your airplane will fly?

When it is ready I can fly. In between I am working on differnt orders so I can not tell. I am working hard to fly soon as possible.
But it is almost ready for painting. I have to do some small jobs like building in the stab, servo,s and rudder. The wing is almost ready for applying thin glass.

I think you misunderstood, look. I think he's asking what sort of speed the Strega will achieve in flight....

For cutting out the stab I have used the Dremel with a disk. Fit the stab between each job. After using the Dremel you have to use sandpaper for final fitting. On the last picture you see a small shadow under the fairing. There you will have to sand a little more.
I will put a spar in the stab instead of thicker glasscloth on the top of the stab.

OK, now I see, I have readed the post too fast: @JBurry and .. that depends complete which engines you will use, see an earlier post :

This will depend on the engine you are using.
AN OPS 60rear should be the fastest with a lot of thrust balanced full carbon prop but we will have to test that.
With a MB40 FAI you can reach the pylon 40 speed, that is really fast, I think 300km or faster.
With a Nelson40 FIRE FAI you can reach almost the same speed as above.
A Dub Jett 40 FIRE FAI will be a little slower.
An OPS 45R will have the same speed or faster than the Jett 40FAI
With an OSDF45 it will be fast.
With a YS45R it will be a fast sportmodel.
A tuned OPS60rear will be the top.

Start the Strega with the engine (power) you always use or a little faster and build up the engine and the speed.
And you can play with the prop less thrust gives less speed and more thrust gives more speed.
But do not use too much thrust or too less thrust because or the model does not fly or you damage the engine or both.
Look in the engine specification and try something.
If you are not used to fly with a fast engine/ model start with an engine with throttle and not with a venturi.
You can shutt off the throttle but a venturi is full power from the beginning to the end.
The end can be save on the ground or some inches under the ground.

We get a lot of power out off a standard OS32SX with an APC 7x6wide.
That works only on a fast speedmodel and not on a trainer with the same engine.
I will start the Strega with an OSDF45 because I have that one in stock and the second model will be an OPS 60 rear with a lot of thrust carbon prop.
I flew before with a Stinger 40 with a Nelson40 FIRE FAI and that was a lot of speed.
Always use a PCM receiver in this kind of models, we had a lot of troubles with a FM receiver.

The wings do not have the scale thickness but are thinner so the model will fly faster than a normal model. It will really fly very well and stable. You can use the Strega as a fast sportmodel or as a speedmodel but you must have enough experience to fly this kind of models. With experience I mean flying with a trainer and after that a shoulder model and a low wing model. If you can fly with a low wing model and the model flies the figures you want you can fly the Strega. If you follow the way your low wing is flying you will have to practice more before you are ready for a Strega.

Even the exhaust can give a lot of more power. A muffled pipe will kill the power of a fast engine. Last week I flew with my Shark with a 2.4 HP Nova Rossi (7x6 wide APC) and it flew the same speed as a Shark with an OS 32SX with 1.2HP. After changing the exhaust to an open pipe non muffled the 2.4 HP power and speed came out off the engine. That was really exciting to fly.
And you can play with different props to get more speed or the header shorter. So it is hard to tell what the speed will be. It will be a speedmodel and how much speed will tell the engine. The new OS 45 DF with 2.4 HP will be a good choice or the Dub Jett 40 FAI FIRE.
I can not wait to test the OPS 60 with a small carbon prop.

Look what I found in a dusty hobby shop in Bangkok yesterday...

An OS 46 VX DF and a Hatori #400 tuned muffled pipe.

Now all I need is a plane to put it in...
