Thank you.
That skulls were from not paying customers (joke).
I bought these on a fair for practicing drawing and for airbrushing.
I have seen the video from Cross eyed about airbrushing a skull.

Now I will make the ailerons working, the hinge from kevlar is allready glued in the wing.
I will cut the foam and cut the sides. The bottem skin has been cut CNC. The top of the wingskin will be carefully cut just to the kevlar. After that the hinge is working. You will not need to do this it has been done here before shipping.
When the aileron is working it is time to glue the wings together with ZAP 5 minutes on a wingjig made of MDF.

Incredible build thread, Look. The quality and attention to detail in your work is amazing. I look forward to seeing the final prototype fly some fast laps!

Now I will finish the mold with the last layer. Sunday I can open the mold.

Richard,
Thank you. I like to do it and explain the building of a fast model. With my first really fast model I have had the problemm that I had used to thin aileron steering rods (2mm) and one was brooken on my Stinger 40 with a Nelson FIRE with a venturi. So I was in big problems. The tank was full, throttle couldn't be stopped and fuel shutt off I did not mount because I did not know how. After some broken nervs I could land the model but I was in another world. There is not much info how to build a really fast model. Important is to glue in a wingspar and make an eggshape glasscloth in the middle of the wing and use strong aileron rods like the sullivan 4-40's. Also important is strong elastic flaps from kevlar or use enough hinges. Some people use 3 hinges on a aileron. Five is stronger and better. A glued in CNC controlhorn is reliable. Not reliable is a plastic controlhorn because it will break.
Best regards,
Look.

The ailerons with elastic flaps made from kevlar:
first I have marked the ailerons, make the necessary cuts with a sharp (japanese) saw, cut the foam and remove it at the bottom side. Scratch the hinge line on the top with a sharp tool but not a knife and use a fine file to make more clearance.
You will not have to do this, I will do this before shipping.

Brush some epoxy on the inside of the aileron on the foam. After glueing the wings together put the wingspar in the wing with construction glue, make glasscloth in the middle part of the wing and sand it to zero. Do not damage the wood ! Cover the whole wing with a light wood sealer that was used for paper wings and sand it light. Bring thin 25 gramms glasscloth on the wing top, do not bend around the corners but after drying sand it. Later the bottem will be done. Use for the glasscloth thin epoxy (like water) or polyurethane lacker. These pictures I will show later.

Look, you seem to use high quality stuff (especially resins). Could you please tell us the exact resin product reference and the weight of woven fiberglass cloth you use ? What is that light blue stuff ?
Thanks !

Hi,
I use Araldit formenhars from Avanti Co. and 160 grams and 280 grams glasscloth.
The blue stuff is a kind of children clay to close small gaps.
If you do not use that the formenhars (gelcoat from epoxy) is leeking (running through)
and your mold or plug will be damaged.
Look.
