James--The CG Ultimate is a 60 sized plane. Many put a 1.20FS on them or .91 2S. IMHO a 26cc gasser would be to large/heavy. The 20cc may fly it but i suspect it would be very underpowered. As I recall, the wing span is 54 inces.

Greg,
As far as the hinges go i will check the wing when i bulid it and there might be enough wodd there for me to use the hinge points. I will deffinetly check to see. As far as everything else goes i think were on the same page. My old man is a corporate pilot so i have access to some really really good aluminum and im going to make my own gear for it. Ill be calling fiberglass specialties sometime next week for a cowl and pants. And i will absolutely be using a pitts style slimline muffler for this plane, they look so clean when properly installed. Thanks for the help
Nick

Nick I have stock servos on the aile and throttle. The rudder and Elev use a 70oz Futaba. I can't remember the model number. I use a 4.8v 1500 NiCad. This plane does not need big torque servos. If you want to do some knife edge loops you might want to put a 100oz or so on the rudder.

Ok so im running into my first little problem so far. If you look at the first picture you will see two number "5" ribs and the notched trailing edge matches up perfectly. If you look at the second picture you will see the number "2" rib and how far it is off. Its off by like a quater of an inch or more. not quite sure what im going to do yet.....anybody ever have this problem before?

Nick--Are you sure the TE doesn't need to be flipped end for end? If not you can move the entire assembly over if all the ribs are "off" or split the difference. As long as the struts between wings line up I could not imagine being off a little on one rib would affect anything.

hey greg,
I definately have the te ends at there respective sides, there are two notches real close together in the center of the wing. I tell ya its werid, its like the the two inner most notches are the only ones that are off. Any how i think the plans might have expanded a little bit, but for safe measure i already called goldberg and they are sending me new trailing edges. If i have the same problem ill assume it was the plans expanding if it was the original trailing edges, ill have new ones.

All that aside after getting all amped up to build two wings, im going to move onto the fuse while i wait for the new t.e.
pictures to come soon

First, check and sand all ribs, they must be the same size (left and right wing halves), before apply any glue, place the second wing half (use as many pins as you can) and see if they align ok. Make the main alignment from the front of both wings. if the difference is the same on both wing halves at the trailing edge stick there will not be any problem. I had several problems with the quality of my kit (missing parts and mis sized wood parts) but sanding is a must in this kit.

A few suggestions (I've built 5 of these things!)

-taper the tail control surfaces to 1/16 for a better response
-chop off the plywood turtle sheeting at the back and carve balsa fairings. This will allow you to NOT glue the tail on before covering
-two servos (obviously) in the bottom of the wing in little hatches (layed on side, will be flush)
-add a 1/8 ply reinforcement to fuse where the cabanes attach
-triangle stock on the gear mount
-aluminum gear
-don't buy Fiberglass Specialities as they're VERY HEAVY! Stans Fiberglass has lightweight versions
-airfoil shap the interplane struts

That's all I can think of now...

Looking good Nick. Make sure you decide about the landing gear block before you glue in the front fuse doubler. It looks like the kits have changed since I built one. The lightening holes in the ones I built before did not have the gap around them. They were stamped and you punched them out.

Im at a little bit of a stand still right now as i need the motor so i can set up the motor mount on the fuse. Ill order it tonight so hopefull it will be here by monday. Until then ill try to figure out some things to do. Guess i need to make a call to fiberglass specialties as well.

hey tarvma,
thanks for the imput, i like everything your saying especially the doubler for the cabanes. Ill have to check into stans fiberglass as well. The reason i wanted to go with fiberglass specialties is they have a version of there cowl specifically designed for the pitts style muffler. No cutting required(supposedly)

If you match up the TEs and they are the same it will be in your plans. Mine were check the TEs to both side and I just built from one side and then fliped the haves. Also chech the grain on the ply ribs where the N struts go mine broke off real easy and the cabane struts (alum.) broke where they bolted together
I am runing a TSI 110 2s and have used a os 90 2s in it.
Every thing looking good have a good one

Ill definately be modifying the ribs where the struts and the rails that the cabanes attach too.
How did yours fly with the os 90 two stroke?
thanks again
